The constellation mirror was on sale inmy local TK Maxx a few weeks ago for £65, I really wanted it but couldn't bring myself to spend that much on it as it would have meant taking down another one from elsewhere in the house. Might be worth having a look ladies?

Ooh my God Jackie! Why did I see your post about half an hour after I plucked up the courage to treat myself!! Mind you I have never had any luck with TKMax although I've just found out there's one a lot nearer than I realised.
Daughter saw same mirror in Camden last night reduced from £400 to £200!!
    Anyway it's done now!

  • This is my first time posting on this thread and the first thing I want to say is how in awe I am of you very artistic people. I have taken a look at some of your homepages and they are very inspiring.
Anyway last Thursday I found myself with a spare couple of hours so on my home from work I called in at the local paint shop, they wanted £9.99 for undercoat and £12.49 for the topcoat. So being Mrs Frugal as I am now known in our house I set off home wondering how I could find cheaper paint. I remebered the huge pot of emulsion I bought from Woolworths when they were closing for £2.29 and decided that would make a good undercoat and made a diversion to Focus. As I walked in there was a sale stand and on there was a few tins of the paint I was looking for so I got a tin of Crown,Egyptian sand for £5.49.
One week later I have now painted two radiator covers, a small table and today I am tackling quite a large chest of drawers.
So a big thank you to all of you for the inspiration.
I wish now I had done before and after photos but never mind(and I don't know why my writing has suddenly become slanted?)

Morning Bibbitybob, thanks for your reply. Im not sure if its melamine, i think they are like mdf doors, they have like a layer over the top which is supposed to look like pine/pine effect! I hate them now! God only knows why i chose them :(

Are these the sort of thing you covered? Ill be soooo excited if i can paint them!!! :j

Sorry, I meant laminate :o but I think it was melamine primer I used on them, worked a treat. I actually used it on my kitchen doors prior to eggshell-ing too as they were laminate.

I got some lovely 2nd hand curtains from my friend today, completely free! They've replaced the nasty grey/green beauties that were on my landing and across the front door - very warm but not pretty. I just can't wait to decorate the rest of the hallway now (more photos elsewhere).
