Ooooooh thats gorgeous BexBex...would love that myself if it was a corner one....really lovely
I've just finished painting a chunky square pine table which I know won't be to everyones taste and it will be going on Ebay this weekend....I could have kept it cream and probably attracted more interest but I wouldn't enjoy painting if I just did that so will have to see how it goes...needless to say it has been distressed to within an inch of its life lol and I have painted a black silhouette of a long stemmed rosebud along one edge  I love it but we'll see
Will put up a couple of photo laterLajoni x

Well I gave into a previous post on here and bought 'sew' by kath kidston and I can't wait to get started... But here's the thing, i've never been taught to sew
sooo I am after a lot of advice. I would love to make a few of the easier pieces like the lavender bags. Tea towels and bags to go in as Christmas pressies so I am going to have to get my skates on and learn. I basically have nothing ( well apart from material from my crafting boxes).
Does anyone have any advice on a suitable sewing machine. I don't really want to spend a fortune on my first one until I know what I'm doing. I have seen a Argos value machine on their website for £60ish it does have very good reviews but I still don't really know what to look out for. I would love to hear anyones recommendations I don't even have a basic starter sewing kit
much appreciate all help0 -
i think they are cheap looking wood, but maybe good laminate.0

emzeebabez, try the sewing room thread - they're really helpful over there!
Well I was just about to give in and order the constellation mirror then I saw jackieglasgow's post  that's a really good price...not sure I'd have much fun carrying it through our town centre mind, assuming my local even had one. Hmmmm...tougher decisions - if there's anything I hate more than spending money, it's spending it when I could have saved some!0 -

Well imho
if wood, wash down with sugar soap...give a light sanding ....add a coat of primer and top with 2 of satin wood or gloss depending on finish required, these can be either water or oil based
If Laminate again wash down with sugar soap, sand lightly and add a coat of ESP (easy surface primer) then add your 2 coats of topcoat
note..I have used water based satin finish on laminate units and they lasted ages ..good luckLajoni x

Hi there!
Does this book come with the bag material and pattern that is in the SEW! book on amazon do you know?
Hi, my book arrived yesterday and I'm afraid that no, there wasn't any fabric with it. It is a lovely book though.
So lovely, I fetched a glass of wine to sip as I read it and my son accidentally upended the entire contents of it all over the book! It is now a lovely, but rather wrinkly, book.0
