I think I would, if I were you!!!

I wish I knew about this upcycling when I got the furniture for my home. I could have saved a fortune!!

I was looking on preloved earlier (please google it if you have never heard of it before) and saw amazing local pieces of furniture at ridiculous prices cos they are old, scuffed and knocked. Those ate precisely the kinds of things that make good pieces to work on though! They were really old dressers and units.

I'm sure your house is full of conversation starters everywhere a guest looks. You must beam with pride when asked, "Wow, where did you get that from?" :D

Gorgeous Chalky! I'm a fan of the plaster of paris recipe for home made chalk paint. (Just because I happened to have some)

looked at preloved ( which has blocked URL copying) Bit expensive in Kent I thought. Have occasionally bought things on Fleabay if local pickup, often for 99p!

Emma K this is for you :D;)http://media-cache-lt0.pinterest.com/upload/104216178848767561_nposVlF9_b.jpg

JJ yes my house is like the night before someone starts off to a Boot Fair, random tut everywhere, I try and give at least one thing away per week or I'd drown... I'm a maximalist :rotfl:
  • Haha! It does indeed look comfy! Mine is forest green, so it's not all creamy whites around here.
    Honest!

Finally! I have about finished the ramshackle bookcase on the landing. The candle trick worked like a dream. I've only lightly distressed it and it took hardly anytime at all thanks to the candle wax being rubbed on :)

I've not waxed over the top as not sure if regular furniture wax is suitable?

I have strips of beeswax that I roll for candle making but have never used this for furniture. Would I have to melt it first and add something to keep it soft? Or is the eggshell tough enough as it is?

    Cheers :)

I think I've done for a little while. I will be watching for ideas for the living room furniture but will take a lot more time on those ones.

    :)

  • Jumble jack, what a transformation! It looks lovely! To answer your queestions, ANY furniture wax is good BUT as you painted in eggshell it needs no further protection! Job done!
  • Bought these lovely bedside tables recently from M&S but they don't suit our room... Well, OH thinks they don't and is refusing to have them :(

    M&S Padstow bedside tables.
