Sorry - must have been a blonde moment when I wrote that gumph. And maybe I do need glasses - sure thought the dark thing was a mirror lol Anyway, its lovely (potentially) . What about a notice board - paint it and you can buy that cork stuff to cover it. Or a photo montage of the family/loved ones. Is it deep enough to turn into a spice rack thingy? Hope I don't sound like I've lost the plot totally. :)

its got a really thin shelf, a bit like a holder for hymn numbers, so you could balence postcards on it.

I wondered about paining the back with black chalk paint and the edges white, or pretty paper on the back till I really decide what to do!

Must. stop. buying. random. charity. shop. stuff.

Well, I think random is pretty good if those photos are anything to go by:D

Here is my offering which is not strictly shabbychic but there is no where else to show it on here:o
Took over 20 years before it was finally framed and mounted properly!

:)Right ladies i am wondering if you lovely lot can please help me.

I am looking to to revamp an old chest of drawers of mine. What i would like to do it paint it in eggshell pain, then on the top and the sides i would like to add polka dot style paper ( i've got a coffe table i bought off ebay that has paper on it).

Questions are, can i use wallpaper or does it have to be another type of paper? What do i use to stick it down? Paste or glue? Also before i eggshell it do i need to prime it first? It currently is painted in a matt colour.

I have loved shabby chic for years and have lots of things i have bought but this is the first thing will try and do myself, i just need some pointers.

    Hope someone can advise.

Hi Raven. I can't advise as I haven't done it myself aside from painting in gloss but I know there are loads of projects on y*ou tube showing shabby chic furniture painting tutorials and of course all the amazing knowledge from posters on here.
    Hope that helps :)

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

I think you could use wallpaper as long as it's not a very thick one. Paste should be OK I would have thought. I saw on a blog that somebody has put old maps over a chest of drawers and it looked great. Maybe protect it with some clear varnish. If it's already painted you don;t need to prime, just either give it a light sanding or use liquid sandpaper-esp (which is easier and my favourite way) and then paint over.

I bought this doggy table in a charity shop & the little stool table at a bootfair yesterday. I'm going to paint them if the house doesn't burst it's seams first!
