    I have 1/2 tin of anne sloan paint - should I? :-)
  • Wow I like that large round 'sunburst' bamboo mirror, would have to paint that up! And, your other bamboo furniture, we had some of that when I was a kid that Id totally forgotten about, takes me back! The bamboo would look good painted light colours and combined with more contemporary seagrass items, maybe a seagrass basket in the bottom section of that little side table?

  • And the chazza mirror at the top, I would say that could remain as wood but go a few shades lighter and look like driftwood. Depends on your other decor.

    meames, that bamboo mirror is lovely! i would be tempted to do a white paint job, and then weave some ribbon or fabric strips all the way round through the 'spokes' to co-ordinate with something else?

    lindos90, thanks, my mum hates that mirror, :D, I have always liked it. (its has always been there so is at leat 35 years old!). It is one of those "nice" mirrors to - ones that make you look slightly less dreadful than normal! I was thinking of perhaps some rose lights around it, but not sure it that would be too tacky.

    Lovely things you got there meames. They would look great with a bit of a makeover. I don't think that you would need to do to much to them. Not to sure about the top picture, what is it?

    Meames - you have some lovely items there. FWIW the chassa mirror would look lovely painted in one of the lovely F & B or AS paints and in my opnion wouldn't need much doing to it as its really beautiful.
    As for the bamboo pieces - the mirror would look lovely in white either with the rose lights you mentioned or what about some liitle bouquets of roses fastened to the spokes with florists wire (fuse wire will do as well) - would be very shabby. And the little unit could be painted to match and finished off with the roses in the same way. Can you tell I'm coveting each piece lol. Wish I had them in my mitts:D

    Whats a Chassa Mirror?

    Do you mean the dark wood thing? It isn't a mirror - the backing is just a bit of plywood (like the backing on an ikea wardrobe).

    After seeing EmmaKates hall of mirrors I am collecting anything to try and recreate it! My upstairs landing is so dark.

    Chazza = charity shop!
    Yes, the dark wood thingy....would have to live with it a while before something pops into my brain. (not much space in there:D)
