That's my new hallway wall of mirrors, all the frames were cheaply sourced from car boot sales and charity shops. The big one is plastic and was gold with a cardboard picture of a cottage in it. That and another 2 were repainted. The little Degas print will also be replaced with a mirror.0

Lovely! What do you use to paint the mirrors? I fancy filling my hallway with photos, I've got loads of frames but they're all different shapes and colours, they'd look much nicer if they were the same colour. That's my new hallway wall of mirrors, all the frames were cheaply sourced from car boot sales and charity shops. Wow, that's beautiful, so inspiring, I love it!0 -
I used whatever I had, a bit of old Annie Sloan on the big one , then 2 shades of paler F&B testers stippled on top then dark wax. The 2nd biggest was just cream emulsion and clear wax, 2 I haven't touched but were shabby chic already and the tiny round one I just dry brushed on some grey. They are all different colours but I think it's interesting that way on a white wall. I did think about painting them all the same but when I stacked them against the wall it looked fine as they were.Lovely! What do you use to paint the mirrors? Am loving reading through this thread!
Have a few bits and bobs of furniture I am painting and decided on Laura Ashley water based eggshell- which I thought would give a more sheen finish than I have achieved (photos to follow) It has dried more "chalky" and I was wondering if I could wax this or not?
Also- i want some cupboard knobs- but they are so pricey- does anyone know where I can get some at a more MSE price ????
Kind regards

Hi Kirsty, I really don't know if wax would make a difference to the sheen of your paint. It may well do if it is chalky...you could try a little in an inconspicuous area? It needs about 10 mins to dry before you buff it off. Sorry I don't know about cheap knobs. Have you tried ebay or DIY stores? Happy painting!Am loving reading through this thread!

wow, emma kate that looks bloody gorgeouse. I bet your house is ace!
I've got a little question I hope someone on here could answer - I've bought a sideboard from auction for our utility room, I've given it a few coats of paint so its ready to go in. However, I thought about fixing a piece of oilcloth to the top, a) to jazz it up and b) to offer extra protection. Any ideas the best way to stick it on - so you think a glue gun would be ok?
thanks0
