That's brilliant; I have wanted a pattern for something like that for a while, to hold accessories, stockings etc to go next to a frock/dress/suit when planning the next day's outfit. Thank you! :T

I'm painting a biscuit tin - anyone seen any posts on here about tins?
So far have put difficult surfaces primer on it, it'll take 4 hours to dry so am now looking to see if anything I have will do as paint without going shopping. It's for the xmas mince pies.
    thanks

Spray paint, for cars, is cheap and durable. You can usually get it for £1ish in cheap household stores, Poundland etc. I used it to spray a filing cabinet and it has worn really well. You need to spray very sparingly and do lots of thin coats, to avoid drips. Practice on an old tin can til you get the idea. Come to think of it, that might be a nice thing to do with old sweet tins. :D

I am not techie, but I upload my own pics into ImageShack, then cut & paste an url from there. If it's pics from a big site they seem to be able to go direct to a post.

    I can't sew! Really wish I could.

I was thinking of changing the handles but I have in aneboda

    in my room
    1. wardrobe
    2. half cupboard / wardrobe
    3. chest of drawers - 3 drawers
    4. 2 bedside cabinets with 3 drawers
5, a proper pine bed (quite expensive at the time)

    in the back bedroom
    1, a wardrobe
    2, half cupboard / wardrobe
3, a chest of drawers with 3 drawers
    4, pine cabinet
    5, beech computer table
6, pine cheapy set of shelves

Thats a lot of white paint - I would worry about painting some of it then decding to switch stuff around

If you paint everything white, it may look a bit 'hospitaly'. I use different shades of white and cream as they all blend without being too stark. You can also paint 'colours', then paint white or cream over the top and then sand parts of it so it shows the colour underneath.
    Have fun. :)

Hi, im a long time lurker of this thread and I finally have my first project.

I was going to buy this table from Very: http://www.very.co.uk/kentucky-dining-table-4-chairs/743697938.prd?browseToken=%2fq%2fkentucky

Then I found this on Gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/pine-dining-table-and-chairs/91579376

Saved £160 and I get to shabby chic it. Its a little scratched and marked but nothing a good sand/paint/varnish wont sort out. Can't wait!! :j

ETA: Can anyone recommend a nice creamy white paint for the table? I'm not planning on painting the table top, just the body and chairs. I don't like white white but like a kind of country cream if that makes sense? Thanks!
  • It depends on how cream you like it I bought a Farrow and ball colour first of all (dimity I think ) which was recommended by someone and it was too cream for me, so I opted for a Laura Ashley Pale Ivory which looks a very creamy white and is lovely. I also have Annie Sloans Old White which is nice and very similar to the LA colour I like.

I'd recommend getting a tester pot and painting a large sheet of card, and then place it in the actual room that the furniture will be in. I have Farrow and Ball's Dimity in my kitchen (cupboards and dresser) and it comes out as a beautiful ivory cream. I used up leftovers on my very sunny livingroom display cabinet and it looks very rich cream and almost sickly ice-cream colour. It is all down to the amount of light in the room.

Also be aware that cream is usually either slightly pink-toned or slightly yellow-toned. It only becomes apparent if you clash different tones!
