Thanks I didn't have any left, but was thinking of doing that becaus I hate those wardrobes (so 90's!) but I have all the bedroom furniture in that. Would I use glue or what to stick the material?
We did have it all but in white, we only have the little drawers which we use as bedside cabinets now. I used a wallpaper sample, cut it down so it fits inside the drawer and ran a bead of glue around the very edge with a gluegun. They look lovely now.0 -
if you Google
fabric containers make
you'll get lots of ideas for the canvas.
But not sure if you want new looks and uses for the furniture as it is or ideas for using the components in different ways0 -
I'm feeling a bit inspired by hmo's fabulous wreath and started thinking about Christmas, I'd really love shabby chic decorations this year instead of the bog standard tinsel draped everywhere. Has anyone got any tutorials or websites where I can get some ideas?Dum Spiro Spero0

Was hoping to get your ideas for what to do with this... have never reupholstered before but think the rattan needs covering. I think the wood might be dyed pine but the person I got it off thought it was oak... any ideas?

It is hard to tell from just looking at the photo, esp as it is stained - you could dig a fingernail or knife edge into a hidden part of the wood - if it leaves a mark it is a softwood (possibly pine), if it resists and is not deeply marked, it is a hardwood (possibly oak).
It is lovely. Such a shame they let the seat get so hammered - it looks as if cats have used it as a scratch mat! Rush/rattan is actually quite uncomfortable to sit on - so if you can't repair it for its beauty, you might want to consider removing it and replacing with a padded flat wooden seat, for more comfort. Or, if you could neaten the rattan, you could cover the ratty bits with thick cushions and have the best of both worlds. :T0 -

We're thinking about buying a 1950's writing bereau we've seen that is already sanded and ready to paint
We'd like to paint and distress it in a shabby chic way so that it will fit with our decor but have never done it before!
So my question is... do you know of any websites that you would rate as being useful for guidance?
Thanks in advance

I have that white wardrobe in my spare room. A tip that transformed it completely: unscrew the wooden block handles and put pretty ones on. I added some black handles so it matched my sturdier Hemnes drawers and it transformed the wardrobe and made it look much more expensive.
For the beigey colour wardrobe, you could give it a lick of white paint too.0 -

I put some crystal ones on mine, made such a difference. I would paint the beige white too. Will pop some photos on when I get round to it!0 -

Great! What a helpful response :j Yes, the lady from freecycle said she had let the cats get at it. I pulled back some of the rattan and it seems there's just a wooden frame that it's wrapped around. I like the idea of getting a piece of MDF or something and putting some foam/wadding on the top... hmm. What to do...0 -
I was thinking of changing the handles but I have in aneboda
in my room
1. wardrobe
2. half cupboard / wardrobe
3. chest of drawers - 3 drawers
4. 2 bedside cabinets with 3 drawers
5, a proper pine bed (quite expensive at the time)
in the back bedroom
1, a wardrobe
2, half cupboard / wardrobe
3, a chest of drawers with 3 drawers
4, pine cabinet
5, beech computer table
6, pine cheapy set of shelves
Thats a lot of white paint - I would worry about painting some of it then decding to switch stuff around0
