I am lucky in that I live in a rennovation project so I get to finish eash room once my DH has finished doing all the 'donkey work'! This room was origionally an attic. Hope you like PFF X

Get to show it all to my daughter tomorrow morning - so fingers crossed...

Thank you all for your kind words - The stool i bought in a charity shop and was really pretty grim, wish i had taken some photos, but i had ripped the covering off near enough before i had got it home, the buttons were also covered in the same mustardy coloured material, i think they were called "prong back buttons" i tried to recover them myself but got no where fast so rang a local upholsterer and explained what the buttons looked like and he said if i took some material over to him he would supply new buttons and cover them in my choice of material - he charged me the grand sum of 50p each!! he also said that there was no way i could have covered them any way, as it can only be done using a special machine. I then used an iron on stiffener type material to put on the back of my own material to give it some extra strength - very cheap got it off ebay only a couple of quid, i covered the foam, (it was already shaped) that was already on the stool with my material and then pushed the buttons through and opened the two prongs on the back of each of the buttons to keep in place, then pulled the material taught and stapled into place on the back, placed another piece of material over the back turning the edges under and then stapling again all around to give a neater finish. The legs just unscrewed so i rubbed them down and gave them a couple of coats of undercoat/primer all in one and then two coats of farrow and ball, rubbing down lightly between each coat, legs back on and stool finished. The material was from laura ashley in their sale reduced to £14 a metre so i bought half a metre which was enough to do the stool and lamp shade - grand sum of £7 for material for the stool and shade.
The lampshade was really easy, i bought an old plain lampshade at a local boot sale, and made a template in newspaper of the shade, used it to cut out material exactly the same size plus 1cm longer length wise as was needed to go around the shade, i sprayed all around the shade and all over the material with an upholstery spray waited approx three minutes then rolled material around the shade i folded over the overlapping piece of material to give it a nice neat edge, then used a glue gun to go around the edges of the shade - only doing upto 10cms at a time and stuck the trim on going all around, top and bottom, this covered all the edges and gave it a pretty good finish. The only down side to the shade was that once i had finished you could see some of the glue through the fabric, but if you were to use a dark fabric i dont think this would be an issue; i asked for some advice and bibbitybob suggested i use pva to stick material to the shade which i have since tried and it works a treat - so thank you!! you can also cover your shade using wallpaper if you don't have any material left so works out a really nice and cheap way to co-ordinate your room, sorry if this was long winded but hope you get the idea... xxVery proud to be Strip club member No 430 -
Bensonsmum - you need to start a blog with all your fabulous makeovers. I would love to subscribe and see before and after pictures of the makeovers and the rooms in your new house. I wouldn't have a clue where to start and what to do??? and i also don't think there would be lots of rooms as my OH likes everything modern and mainstream its only my daughter that likes the same sort of things as me; but i might have a chance with the kitchen as the cupboards are really old and a complete mess so im sure the rest of the family wouldn't mind me playing around with them and trying to sort them out - only thing is all the electrical stuff - cooker, washing machine etc; is pretty new so really in need of some ideas if there are any floating around please???Very proud to be Strip club member No 430
