I wouldn't have a clue where to start and what to do??? and i also don't think there would be lots of rooms as my OH likes everything modern and mainstream its only my daughter that likes the same sort of things as me; but i might have a chance with the kitchen as the cupboards are really old and a complete mess so im sure the rest of the family wouldn't mind me playing around with them and trying to sort them out - only thing is all the electrical stuff - cooker, washing machine etc; is pretty new so really in need of some ideas if there are any floating around please???

If I can do it, anybody can. Just go to Blogger.com and follow a template. Play around with it. Hmmm not sure about the kitchen will have a think.

Danemi... what about the ikea adel yellow kitchen?
I have the cream Adel from Ikea, as well as the oak worktops, DH assesmbled and installed them all. I have two corner units with carousels.

Here's a couple of piccies, showing some of the Ikea units and a couple of items I painted to match.

    DSCF0297.JPGDSCF0301.JPG

The whole kitchen cost just under £2,000, including all the paint, vinyl flooring, sink, extractor hood, island unit (with marble top!) and extra bits such as handles and lighting. I have the island unit where the table and bike are in the first piccie...it's a godsend!

Just back from holiday, so having a catch up today. Need to get various things done, before we get down to clearing out the conservatory later this week as we want to decorate it. I might paint my sideboard before we replace the flooring (or rather cover it! Then I can paint even when it is raining!! :j

    Happy decorating everyone!!

Your kitchen looks great Keiss. I've got the Wickes Windsor which is very similar.

I don't have all the bits (not enough space sadly:() but I do have the oak worktops. It was what I wanted most of all. It's been in place for almost 3 years now and apart from a bit of oil every few months it's been effortless and still looks fab. I love it!

Decorating moving ahead slowly in guest room. Walls, ceilng and paintwork done in off-white/cream. Bird paper feature wall done (black, white and silver line drawings on cream background but can't find it on B&Q site). Large mirror bought, carpet (creamy mushroom coloured) ordered. DH's next job is to install fitted wardrobes (white Ikea). I need to source window treatment and light fitting/lampshades. I'm thinking either a white wooden blind and just lace curtains or cream cotton. Also, does anyone think a small 'chandelier' like this
0294091_m.jpgwould be OTT or what? I need something for bedside lamp too. I have lamp base (traditional, wooden which I'm happy with) but need a shade.

Door and cupboard door are stripped & varnished (all our doors are) so whatever happens there will be some natural wood in there. I think I'll wait to see whether the lamp, mirror look OK or need to paint them. I also have choices of chair:
    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRe7TxmzCrpPigKKA1cSXbyM7CrNffVHQJ0Ipbfcz6YWZn7-6tC
One like this (but not a rocker) which would need stripping and varnishing or painting or I have an old Lloyd Loom. For the bedside table I have Lloyd Loom (currenty pink) or a round one which would need covering with a cloth.

Thanks for reading (if you got this far:rotfl:) I needed to think it through myself. Any comments/ideas greatly appreciated. TIAx

    Hello,

I moved into my flat a couple of months ago and am pretty much sorted now.

However.... I inherited a blue & brown kitchen :-) I've wallpapered and painted out the brown cupboards but amnot sure whether or not to leave the blue ones as they are?

They look ok, I'm just not sure if painting them will make it look better? Ideas / comments all appreciated!

Thanks for that danemi. Our oak worktops came from Wickes as that was where we were buying the kitchen units. Not sure how they compare for value. Look forward to pic if you can.

Hi Danem1 we also have oak worktops - love them. Came from Howdens.
Gorgeous kitchens. Ours is green and I am working on OH to paint them cream.

  • Tea Towel Memory Board

Just thought I'd post as it may help someone. They've got some great gingham tea towels in Primark for £1.20 each. They're deep pink or blue. I don't have a use for them personally (although I'm thinking really hard;)) but they were a good cotton and would make ideal shoe bags, bunting, cushions or you could even use them as .....teatowels.

Thanks for the heads up on these tea towels. I have made a memo board with one of them and a few bits and bobs I had in my card making stuff - not sure the colours go but I don't think its bad for a couple of quid!

    Tiles Question

I am in the process of repainting our kitchen cabinet doors (thanks to all the help on this thread!) and we plan to paint the walls too. We can't afford to replace the wall tiles but I have heard that they can be painted. Has anyone tried painting over existing kitchen tiles? Do you need to use special paint and/or carry out any specific preparation? Any advice and/or tips would be very much appreciated! :)

    Thanks
