    Tea Towel Memory Board
Thanks for the heads up on these tea towels. I have made a memo board with one of them and a few bits and bobs I had in my card making stuff - not sure the colours go but I don't think its bad for a couple of quid!

So glad it was of use to someone. I thought they were excellent value and very CK looking. I'm still thinking of ideas of what to make from them, message board looks fab.

    Tiles Question

I am in the process of repainting our kitchen cabinet doors (thanks to all the help on this thread!) and we plan to paint the walls too. We can't afford to replace the wall tiles but I have heard that they can be painted. Has anyone tried painting over existing kitchen tiles? Do you need to use special paint and/or carry out any specific preparation? Any advice and/or tips would be very much appreciated! :)

    Thanks
    CC

I have painted my kitchen tiles recently and I used a tin of tile paint bought from B & .. I just washed the tiles down first with hot water and a little washing up liquid, then when dry painted them. A friend did say I would have been better to use a roller....The only thing is in a kitchen they do get a lot of wear and tear so you do need to keep touching them up.

I have also painted kitchen tiles with specialist tile paint. The result wasn't too bad and is worth doing if you really don't like the tiles. We inherited them along with the kitchen when we moved in, we couldn't afford a new kitchen so it was a way of quickly updating a very old, tired kitchen. We also painted the wooden units - it was certaintly worth doing until we could replace.

Well i have finally done it!! finished my daughters new dressing table, i did have a few "sticky" moments as i wanted to cover the support for the mirror in the same stuff as i used on the drawers - but i couldn't get it to work, kept coming unstuck, thought i would try and do it in two pieces, that didn't work either so ended up taking off what was on there and rubbing down and starting again, but to be honest im well pleased with it.

I bought some at the weekend but haven't opened the tin yet. I have a very small tray that I'm going to have a go with but I have loads of items awaiting painting.

Yes it works out cheaper than F&B, Fired Earth etc as you really don't need to do anything first.
I've done the first coat on several items over the last couple of day, I will show all here & Shabbychic Cafe, as soon as I finish, busy weekend & busier week, so it will be a few days. Probably over a week, dughter coming down for a few days.
Everything is dark varnished wood & all covered really well.
I've also wacked some diluted onto 2 different dark wardrobes & a stained cupboard to see if there's any bleed through & there isn't, so hopefully it will all be done with 2 coats.
I've used the cream, the shop where I bought mine from has done several light wood pieces with darker paint that has only needed one coat of paint.

I've been doing a few bits in it lately, just waiting for my wax to arrive. I like the coverage but not keen on the chalk finish for furniture so will report back once I've put a clear wax on top!

    Hello,

I've been a long time browser of the shabby chic thread, dreamily thinking of all the projects I could do. We're about to renovate our little cottage so don't want to do anything that might get spoilt in the process, but here is my first ever shabby chic project, allbeit a little one, inspired by you ladies! Wooden ironing board came from freegle, covered with a double thickness of charity shop blanket, an old cot sheet, and some new checked fabric. Think I will also go round the edge with some bias tape, I got some but it was too narrow and will look silly.

OH loved it and actually ironed some shirts (against my quite strong belief that life it too short for ironing!) so it must be good!

So, thanks for the inspiration, and long may it continue!

    Georgina

PS. Sorry for the mess in the background!
