Yes, keeping my eyes on ebay! Agree, we only have an average car! Presumably they are often in two pieces?! How much would one pay for these in good nick on average?! thank you!0

Have you looked at the completed listings on ebay to give you an idea on how much similar items have gone for in your area, you can do that by your postcode. I think that it depends entirely where you are in the country to be honest.
I often see things that have gone really cheap but not near me.
They are generally in 2 pieces you may find a man & van close who will shift it for you cheaply.0 -
No Hermum, didn't even know that was possible. Will try and work out now, thanks!0

Here's completed listings for pine dressers, if you've got your postcode in then you can sort it by nearest first which should give you an idea of what the go for in your area.
Freecycle & the local paper, gumtree etc often have them, the first of course free, the others cheap.0 -
Hi there everyone
Full time Lurker, first time poster in this thread.
I absolutely love all your projects and after buying our new house I'm attempting some shabby chic of my own.
I brought with us a black metal Ikea table we used to use as a bedside table. My new bedroom is very french styled and I thought it would be lovely if I could transsform the table.
Can anyone recommend a good way to paint the metal, would spray paint be the best or normal paintbrush paint? :rotfl:
Also, which colours are the best for shabbyness in plasti-kote?

Hi Tiger-I believe some people have used car spray paint from Po*ndland on metal items. Not tried it myself but I'm sure someone who can advise you better will be along soon. Good luckNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Ohhh suisidevw I have that exact same dresser! Well I've brought it, it's still sitting in the shop waiting to be delivered to our new house [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when we move. Im not sure if I'm going to do anything to it because of the size, it is ruddy huge but I'll be interested to see what other people come up with."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Hi Pooky, Thanks for that! Out of curiosity, how much did you pay as need to work out if it's a deal! It does split in 2 and we'd use a local man with a van! It'll take a fair amount of paint, that's for sure!0

Hi Tigerlilly
I am occasional (very occasional) poster , mostly lurker, I have used the cream plastikote on several things which has been relatively successful in getting the vintagey white look, and in Wilkos they have a cheaper version in the same colour which saves about £2.
Good Luck - I rather like spray painting things for a shabby chic look - sadly so much so my DH has taken to hiding the cans!! :rotfl:
