For a more masculine shabby chic style take a look at the cbeebies programe "Grandpa in my pocket" the house is lovely.
Not been doing any SC for ages but thought I would pop in for motivation. I need to paint our dark wardrobe doors in the bedroom as a priority as that will make a huge difference.
Loving seeing everyone else's finds and makeovers. x

    Hello there
I'm new to this thread. Am sure you have all answered this here before, but I have not found it yet. I have some dark wood furniture that I want to paint. Can someone help me with a step by step guide and explain what type of paint will work best. I tried before and used an undercoat but the varnish kept showing through. Some parts of the furniture I need to paint are quite intricate and am not sure how well sanding will work.
    Many thanks in advance xx

Welcome! It would be quite long-winded to type out a how-to on here, but here is one I found via google, which I found during my early days of doing makeovers: http://romantichome.blogspot.com/2007/08/painting-furniture-step-by-step.html

Also if you check out shabbychiccafe.com some of us have posted photos and tips of makeovers over there. :D
