irishgirl62 wrote: »A question... I hope someone can help me please.. I have been eyeing a china cabinet which would be perfect for my kitchen but how do i paint the wood on the glass can it be removed or is it patience and perserverance in painting the fine wood on the glass doors?
It takes a long time, and patience, but I did mine by using masking/decorators tape very precisely cut and stuck on the glass. If you can afford frog tape it prevents bleeding and gives a very sharp edge but I used standard stuff. Do your re-coats as quickly as possible though and take the tape off straight away afterwards or it can leave sticky stuff on the glass which is a whole other problem...:D0 -
Does anyone use a spray gun or do you all handpaint? If a spray gun which one can anyone recommend please?
I love the idea of a spray gun but I like to use oil based paints for furniture and spray guns are best for water based paint. I hand paint using a brush and a small sponge roller.0 -
well I haven't been posting for a while , but I am still following the thread & lots of your blogs... I especially love BibertyB hair extensions...:) Think I want some now!

can't advise you gingababe on the Laura Ashley style furniture sorry. I want to update my bedroom. I currently have a cream carpet and dark wood (laminate) furniture neither of which I can or will change. Not an option to paint the furniture so in your opinions..... could I achieve a shabby / vinatge chic style with the dark furniture in there or shall I just go for another style? The greatest gift you'll ever learn,is just to love and be loved in return:love:Nature boy - Eden Ahbez0

GB can you post a picture of the LA furniture you like and maybe people can suggest alternatives.I want to update my bedroom. I have dark brown Ikea furniture and a cream carpet in my study/spare room. I have mixed in some nice fabric covered lampshades and a patchwork quilt on the bed to give a more cosy feel. I also covered a tub chair in Cath Kidston fabric to add some fun. I love it!0 -
Popped into the charity shop today and for £5 I got a cantilever sewing box (hinges are broken on the lid) and 2 remnants of Laura Ashley fabric. 1 is 56cm by 144cm. The other was 78cmx 144cm. I'll get pics up soon. The sewing box is going to be sanded and painted white. I will line it with wall paper samples picked up today from B&Q. I may add some paper to the top too.
Need to try and look back over past posts for more inspiration for the sewing box.
I'm so excited. Lovely buys, Kaz!
I have spray painted a similar sewing box using Rustoleum Ivory Bisque paint. It is fiddly as you need to take it apart and then do each piece with several very light coats, but if you take it outside on a fine day it is a relatively quick job and much quicker and less messy (outside) than messing with little brushes. Gives a lovely even finish too. I then pasted squares of laura ashley wallpaper (from 50p remnant rolls) into the base of each section.0
