This is the design of the upholstery on my "new" settee (£25 in the charity shop last week) - any idea if I can just buy some of the fabric to make a few matching bits for the living room?

But you would thin water based eggshell with water?

i am not sure I think the manual said thinner for eggshell water for emulsion and none if you are crescoting the fence.

I did three chairs four drawer fronts and the rain came on

I was hoping to finish the table today :(

love the design of your fabric budgetboo

Thought I'd ask this question of you lovely peeps here before I clutter up the boards with a new thread. Not entirely chic (though definitely shabby), my dining chair covers are getting very worn through and it's starting to make the foam disintegrate so i need to recover them before they get to the point of needing new foam too.
What I would like to know is... can I just use one of those cheap vinyl tablecloths? (Wipe clean!) I have worked out that I will need one around 72" X 52" to get 6 pieces the size I need (fairly standard give or take a few inches) so I can get one for less than £15, a lot cheaper than buying fabric. Then all I will need is scissors and to borrow my Dad's staple gun. This seems far too easy and cheap, can someone please point out obvious/not so obvious reasons why it won't work?

It should work fine as long as the fabric/vinyl isn't too stiff or thick. I think it's a really good idea actually!

Thanks! After a bit of googling I see it is not an original one, so I guess it should work. Now to choose the design... I have an Orange Pine table and chairs (I know!) and the kitchen is painted a torquoisey(sp?) shade of blue so I'm toying between

I am drawn to the flowery one, but it might make the pine too orangey if you know what I mean? They are both gorgeous though. :)

I do know what you mean! There's always stripes or polka dot but I thought I'd like something a little different... (trawling ebay...)
Have asked hubby who begrudgingly offered his opinion... that he prefers the second one. though he also said he doesn't care because he's only going to sit on it!

    I like this one

    or this

    and this

but it depends on what shade of turquoise you have. The blue tartan was lovely too. oops I probably haven't helped at all :o (the flowery one was my favourite though, maybe you could just paint the furniture :rotfl: )

Thanks for looking! I'd spotted the first one but not the others. It's quite a blue kitchen and I wanted darker or patterned as they will have messy kids on and everyone knows bolognese sauce turns everything it touches orange so can't be too white!

I like this but it's too pricey
