Today's questions
1) is it an absolute necessity to have a sewing machine to complete projects? I was given an old one but the foot pedal (and hence the rest) doesn't work, so I hand sew everything and
2) the machine's in a lovely old wooden cupboard, you know the sort where the lid does a flip over to reveal the machine- do you think it would be possible to take the machine out and keep the cupboard, it's a great size and shape - has anyone done anything like that, so I could do a bit of brain picking?
hi i personally would prefer to have a machine - as my sewing isn't great. would it be possible to buy a spare part???? or have it fixed. i am just finishing off a patchwork throw, having just bought a machine, and having had the fabric for years...
my Grandma used to have a sewing machine cupboard, without the sewing machine so it can be done - but i have no idea how.
good luck.

You could check out your local library for decorating technique books and then do each letter using a different method - good practice and you get to see which you like best. If you use the same colour/colours for each letter then the various techniques will give them a "matching but not the same" look.0 -
Thanks Nimbo - I guess it might be possible to get the part, it depends how expensive and if I would then 'get on' with the machine enough to make it worthwhile (the OH is already moaning about the space it's taking up- hence the idea of trying to make a working cupboard out of the carcass)! Sounds like you have your quilt well in hand - are you getting on alright with your new machine? Will you put up a pic of your throw when you are done?Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
