  • I have just read the recent posts about paint and the alternatives to F&B

For my recent projects I have been using
Craig And Rose 1829 Acrylic Eggshell which I bought from B & Q and about £12.00 for a 750ml tin. The tin states "authentic period colours "
I bought chalk white and was a bit worried it would be too white but it has dried a lovely creamy colour !
I have never used F & B so can't compare it but the things I have painted so far with it look fab, they look so different from just using gloss or emulsion.

I've also used this paint for my shabby projects ...colour I used was Hemp Beige, eggshell finish. All my pine b'room furniture was done with it about 7 months ago and has stood up well so far. I sanded and primed before painting.I'd go for it, FB. I'll try to get pics on when I get a minute.

I haven't finished the chairs yet but will post as soon as I have managed to finish 1 of them.
The other projects are also nearly finished and will post them once complete.

Sorry about the quality of the photo I think my camera is on its last legs !!!

  • hi all,

well starting to get myself organised for my first project- think its going to be the bedroom furniture first. frightened the hubby already by asking him to find the electric sander!!!!!! so now hes in total panic mode wondering what im going to do with one of his 'babies'. sand paper and small paintbrushes found, so next job is the paint to buy.

HART44 thanks for the quilting link will take a good look at it over the weekend, and keeping my eye open for some fabric now( threads etc ready n waiting).
NOTSORICHNOTSONFAMOUS- your table is exactly how i want mine to look only mine is a square one, only 2 chairs so need to find 2 more to go with them.

what undercoats/primers do you all use please.

I brought a tin of Wilco primer & undercoat, it is water based so dries quick, its not bad for a cheaper tin.
I managed to get 4 tins of Crown Breatheasy paint reduced in Focus the other day, the one Im using at the mo to paint my towel rail and kitchen roll holder is Waffle, it is a nice very pale creamy yellow. I will post some pic's tomorrow.
Well off to work again :(

Forgot to add love the TK Maxx stuff Vikki, wish it was payday though lol
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)
