I bought a chunky square pine coffee table off Ebay £2.99...I've given it 2 coats of cream paint and am now going to do somesort of decorative painting on it...not sure what yet but will hopefully get it back on Ebay on Sunday
Will post a photo when I've accrued enough posts :)

  • That set is lovely, euripidesralph, I'm looking forwards to seeing your finished kitchen & bedroom!

Our builder came yesterday to measure up for the kitchen wall RSJ - he's coming to fit it in less than two weeks, which means the new kitchen is a step closer (yet so far!!).

Meant to say, I love that bedding princess vikki, just a shame it's only available in kingsize. I've been avoiding my local TkMaxx, always full of lovely stuff I want to spend money I don't have on!!

Hello everyone, lots of beautiful works in progress, love the wardrobe BibbityBob, am sure it will look great (hope you are feeling a bit better now). I have a corner unit in my bedroom that I got for a fiver in the summer that I am hoping to start work on when I'm a bit better- there's something quite therapeutic I find about revamping an older item that then watches over you whilst you sleep - or is that just me?
Today's questions(1) is it an absolute necessity to have a sewing machine to complete projects? I was given an old one but the foot pedal (and hence the rest) doesn't work, so I hand sew everything and (2) the machine's in a lovely old wooden cupboard, you know the sort where the lid does a flip over to reveal the machine- do you think it would be possible to take the machine out and keep the cupboard, it's a great size and shape - has anyone done anything like that, so I could do a bit of brain picking?

I bought some and just painted them but I guess you could cover them in paper too.
  • I've never done anything like this before but I'm feeling inspired now :j

I have an old MDF pine effect TV cabinet.... What would I do with that, would I just undercoat it and then paint it?

    Thanks very much

You could paint in various ways decorative, distressing etc ......add embelishments.....cover in fabric, wrapping paper or even serviettes which when sealed with a tinted sealer (watered down PVA glue with a tiny amount of brown paint, tea, coffee etc) gives a lovely aged look .....Good luck :)

Yes basically after lightly sanding first apply an undercoat and then two coats of the finish you require :)
