I caught the end of a DIY SOS programme last night (maybe you did?) and they'd used the factory/workman theme for a teenage boy's' bedroom. You could watch it on iplayer. Graffiti on a feature wall seemed to go down quite well! Also try googling 'teenage boys bedrooms' for some ideas.0

That treadpate effect silver vinyl flooring reminds me of industrial/workshop style.
What about the metal shelving or wooden painted white or silver with black tubs for storage (Tesco do value ones really cheap in black)
I think you can buy rolls of black and yellow chevron type tape which could make an interesting trim on furniture, window ledge edges and shelves.
A black roller blind with some creative fabric paint/stenciling could be made to look like metal shutters?
I'd love to do this style bedroom, I can't wait until DS is a bit older so I can decorate his room again.0 -
hmo - I noticed on your blog that you talked about Sky tv and a sew and stich programme on create and craft. Is that an actual channel and (if so) do you have the channel number?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all
We've just given our bedroom a revamp and I have a waxed pine chest of drawers and 2 varnished "orangey" pine bedside tables. There isn't anything wrong with either of them structurally and i would doubt i could get anything as well made without paying a fortune but i don't like the finish.
I am guessing the waxed chest of drawers can simply be stained - i want it darker - but can i sand and stain the bedside tables? I am not terribly gifted craft wise.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

You will need to remove the finish on both of them before you stain them and it will be important to get a good clean surface before staining, as wood stain has a habit of showing up any blemishes. I'd wait for a fine day and take the varnished ones outside and use a belt sander if you have one. I think you can use paint thinners/stripper to remove wax but others may know better.
Wood stain is easy to use (easier than paint) but I found it really caught in the back of my throat and gave me trouble for days, so make sure that you have good ventilation. The finish will be lovely though!0
