Congrats on getting your dress Swinstie. It's great that you found one that you love, and at least you got quite a bit of money off it. Plus you now have an extra cruise dress! I'm both feeling dread and excitement in equal measures about dress shopping in the new year, because I don't want to fall in love with a dress I can't afford!
Your ring sounds brilliant Enchantica - its really nice that it will always mean something really special to both of you, and that there's more of a story to it to tell the grandkids!
Nothing too new is happening for us. We're thinking about making some shortbread for our favours, and getting wedding shaped cutters. I've found a set of 4 different shapes on Amazon, so going to buy them and have a trial run so that we can work out some costs.Getting married 12/11/2011

Got some good news today. I'd emailed our photographer a couple of weeks ago with a couple of questions. I'd had a quick reply from him saying he was having computer difficulties but would get back to me. As I hadn't heard I emailed him again yesterday to check up, and got a very apologetic email from him today saying he was still struggling to catch up, but as he'd taken so long to answer he would give us an extra 2 DVDs of the photos for free (the cost of these was one of my questions as parents were wanting them!)

Enchantica- your rings sound fantastic, I love personal stuff like that. Having a ring that has such a lovely story behind it is so much better that the boring shopping trip that Im going to get mine on
swinstie any chance of you posting pics of your lovely dress? Even though it was abit more than what you expected to pay its still a great bargin getting it for £850 when it was £2225!
I brought two dresses myself hehe its so hard picking 'the' dress
But having two dresses has worked out just great being as Im now having two weddings. How greedy am I? we are now getting hitch in mexico! But because of the extra costs of having a legal ceremony in mexico, we are having a small registry office with close family in the uk before flying out and having a symbolic wedding there.
heres a link of where we are going. though we arnt booking it untill next week!

That's exciting news Stellarstar. I couldn't get you link to work though. Have you been to Mexico before? I love it there, and it will be such a nice setting for a wedding.

Brilliant news on Mexico Stellerstar, it looks lovely.
Well I've a huge dilemma about my dress (will add link to both), I obviously love the dress I bought last week but also really like the original one I got (for marrying abroad). Have been trying to find out about dyeing it but called Dylon and the woman there told me not to dye it as I'd ruin it, as it's 100% silk and also dry clean only. So I then called Coast and pleading ignorance that I had lost my receipt. It's still a current dress so I can return it but will need to pick something else as they won't give me a credit note. I could wear it on cruise but as it's ivory it looks too weddingy IYSWIM, just tried it on again and no matter what it looks like I'm either a bride or a bridesmaid. What should I do??

Wow - that dress is stunning Swinstie. I can see why you fell for it! I love the other dress too, and actually think that it could work well on a cruise. Lots of people wear that sort of thing when they're dressing up, so I don't think you'd look too bridey!

Awesome news Stellerstar, had a look at the link and the place looks gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful.
Swinstie I think you really do have a dilemma, both are lovely. It's kinda bad but kinda good when you have 2 gorgeous dresses!
My dilemma is here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2877500 I'm having outfit wobbles. I don't like my skirt because it looks cream coloured, not white and I want white. So not very sure what to do as I still love my corset. I can't find a skirt like the one I want, looks like I will need to get a cheapish wedding dress and hack it up or something to make a skirt out of it.
Also, me and OH are meeting with our Humanist Celebrant next week for the first time. Can't wait0 -
welcome beckeh86, what colours are you going for with the christmas theme?
Enchantica - Thats a shame about you not liking your skirt. i think the whole outfit looks really wintery, perfect for novemberbut it is your wedding day and its a thing that you only wear once so I would want it to be 100% happy with it too. Before buyin a dress to cut up, you should pm linda about how easy/hard it would be alter a dress into a skirt.
blue - Ive never been to mexico before, it was from watching an idoit abroad that we thought of mexico as a honeymoon lol. it was the only place he didnt moan about and enjoyed being there so it must be great!
OH wasnt happy with the plans how they were before. He really wanted to get married abroad and in the summer but I wanted to do it with family and friends and I didnt want to be predictable and do the samething as everyone else. I was getting really stress out about how family were moaning about it being winter as well. Then the OH found that hotel and said he really would like to get hitched there. So I slept on it and realised that the only person I should try and please with the wedding plans was the OH himself. So there we go! It was all booked and deposit paid for last night, no going back now. Ive just got to figure out what im going to do with all the wedding stuff Ive brought already:kisses2: Getting Married 5th November 2011 :kisses2:0 -
That's so exciting Stellerstar that it's all booked and everything! Then it really begins to feel real. Time to get excited
Well I bought a China dress from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230553190011&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT So I'm really excited! When it comes I will decide whether I want to wear it how it is or with my ice blue corset. I kinda need a steel boned corset as my tummy is my worst feature! Need to keep it held in and steel corsets do that brilliantly. I love the skirt on the ebay dress so will modify the dress when it comes, my mum should be able to help with that. Really excited though because I LOVE the skirt part.
We visited our Humanist celebrant last night for the first time and I have confirmed this morning that we would like her to do our wedding. She was really nice0
