Hello dear friends,
I have arrived in the US last night and boy what a flight it was! 300 teens trying to be camp counsellors in the US for the summer. I dont think the plane used any fuel because the kids were buzzing!Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

well I am now on an official time to pay plan with the HMRC of £45 a week. I am hoping to pay it off way sooner but at least they will stop harassing me by post.
There was a murder on my road last night (the other end) and my OH says that the whole road has been closed off so that isnt great.
Today is OH birthday and I am here in America so I feel pretty bad about it, however I have a stonking cold so maybe that is the karma whiplash.
Trying to stay on my diet as best I can as I have this 30lb target I am trying to meet.
It's 30c here so quite hotMortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

Stay safe NL, enjoy the heat, you're missing heavy rain at the moment, I'm sure you're sorry....
I'm supposed to be dieting too, but it's a bit half-hearted. I found an old pedometer and bought a new battery for it. I shall see how near I get to 10,000 steps tomorrow.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Hello dears!
Piq: How is the pedometer working out? I havent done any walking yet today, but plan to get out about noon so I can also get some sun.
Granny I love heat too. That is really one thing about the UK I wish I could change. I would like to add more sunny days.
I went over budget and agreed to let OH spend more on her Mum's bday then we had planned for.
This year we are going to try to cut down on our gift budget.
When I get home I am going to take on a second job so that I can really attack our bills better. More than anything I want to be debt free and an average weight.
I grew up in an environment where we moved a lot and I didnt feel very stable (we had the £ to move) but being uprooted all the time was hard. The house we have lived in for the last 6 years, well that is the longest time I have ever lived anywhere in my life. To have the bills and house paid off fully will be so comforting to me. It will really help me take care of my emotional self.
Ok enough drivel.

That's not drivel! Stability is so important, especially if it was missing in childhood, and financial security plays such a massive part in that. What are you thinking of as a second job?
Anyway, I just popped by to say thanks for recommending Opinion Outpost. I've signed up and done the initial 'about me' surveys. So far I have 17 entries to the quarterly £5K draw so I'm pinning all my hopes on that!
Also congratulations on becoming a British Citizen. It's a pleasure to have you!LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

How strange that is my goal in life too and tbh it'll probably take me as long to lose the weight as it will to lose the debt.
Not drivel at all.
My earliest memory, pre aged 7 is sitting on my bed crying thinking I can't lose my friends again. My dad was in the forces when I was born and we moved a lot. Then we settled for a bit when he came out and its at this house I have this memory from. When we moved to the village I eventually grew up in my whole personality changed and I went from being a confident child to a really shy one and this never left me. Even now I get paranoid about what people think of me and I put it down to this move.
Pre the move my mum had made a comment one day about charging the children from my school for lifts home in our van. I must have thought what a good idea because I decided to adopt it and started charging my peers for lifts :rotfl: at the grand old age of 6! If they didn't have money, they had to walk and weren't allowed on the bus. I only got busted when my dad asked one of the twins where her sister was and she said that she didn't have any money. When questioned my dad discovered I had a handful of small change and made me give it all back. My mum only found out about this when I was 18 and we were discussing funny things from the past. Can you imagine what the other mums must have thought when their kids didn't turn up at the time they were supposed to. Luckily the school was near to our houses but it did involve crossing a busy road. :eek:Perish the thought now. However it proves that I certainly wasn't shy then.
So as Happy says, stability is very important and lack of it can cause all sorts of problems in later life.
