NewLeaf wrote:She is on loads of medication, some of them are non-concomitant with others. I would say she is heavily medicated which is not helping the situation.
NewLeaf this comment makes me rather uneasy. Generally, I'd agree that an adult should be allowed to control their own destiny, but when someone is taking so much medication that one drug will interfere with the actions of another and it is clear to those who're close that the patient's mentality is being affected, then, I think there is a case for stepping in.
Given Mom's reaction to your concern, this might be done by cultivating a better relationship with Step-Dad who is able to observe Mom every day; alerting him to be watchful, suggesting that he make the effort to be more sympathetic and perhaps encourage Mom to see her MD for a review of the medication.
If that doesn't work, then I think I'd be looking at going to talk to this counsellor Mom trusts.. Find out where he thinks she's heading. And have a look at the qualifications certificates he's got hanging on his wall - does he have the knowledge to understand the effect of all the medications Mom is taking?
..A lot of people have payment plans set up with HMRC. Not everyone can always afford their tax bills through one reason or another. As long as your return goes in on the 31st you wont get a penalty - you just end up owing interest on the amount outstanding.

Hi New Leaf - yes, thank you, I had a lovely Valentines day. We normally don't celebrate it as I consider it a waste of money, however after reading Robin's post yesterday I resolved, there and then, to celebrate it every single year going forward, as we never know how long we have in this world with our loved ones. With that in mind I left work and when Mr Dot got home I said; 'Come on, we are going out to waste some money'. He was bemused to say the least so when we had had a few drinks I told him about Robin and how reading what she wrote yesterday had changed my view profoundly; I told him all about her, PC and PC dog being stolen and then finding the way back - his face was a picture. I haven't told him about you, though, not yet at least, I don't quite think he would understand the concept of my virtual twin:rotfl:
Last day at work and a week off for you woo hoo. Great things planned this weekend, lunch and shopping with DD1 and BF(well the lunch part with him) then DGD coming for a sleepover so I am a very happy Dorothy today you will be pleased to hear - oh - and the sun is shining:T0 -

Dot I am delighted that my and PC's story has illustrated the importance of appreciating the life and relationship you have with MrD...Hope he understood!

Oh NL that's so lovely, I am sure you will make a lot of your friends on here very happy today with that statement.
You have had some wonderful advice( Im not including myself in this obviously, a mine was to be pink not blue which wasn't really going to help the situation !) these last few days, its amazing how lovely these people are. I worry all the time about my parents, seems to be a real role reversal these days.

Hello, thought I would pop in as I am not sure with the hectic weekend approaching whether I will get chance to catch up. And I have hit a bit of a wall in what I am currently trying to do.
Hope you are feeling bit better. I did have a thought whilst attending my morning ablutions about your upsetting email correspondence - perhaps your Mom would be a little less standoffish if you were to go see her alone? I am not trying to insinuate your OH is not liked, but if Mom is sore about making a decision she now regrets the fewer people she has to acknowledge KNOW about the decision at this point in time the easier it may be? I do also appreciate you want OH there to support you - but perhaps you could cope with this more virtually for the exact period you are there on site supporting Mom?
If Mom really is not acknowledging people and your Stepdad then perhaps you simply turning up and giving her a hug could be well received? I know that is so not MSE and of course you have your own health to consider, but as Robin points out and I mentioned before, the non-concommit comment about meds is extremely worrying. If nothing else you can do as suggested to ensure a properly qualified medical person can review her prescriptions to make sure these are not doing more harm than good. Is this something you could do quickly i.e. not spend a huge amount of time over there, just a few days? Of course if the answer is Mom will not welcome this on any level then ignore as a bad idea.
On brighter news, it is Friday, we have made it to be in sight of the finishing line so I think we all deserve a clap on the back!Start info Dec11

For me it has been an eye opener what other people have to go through and makes you appreciate life so much more. I often feel I am just wishing my life away till my DFD. I have had my own life tests over the years and they say what doesnt break you makes you stronger - well there are a lot of strong ladies (and men) on here.
NewLeaf - hope you are ok today hunny. x0 -
Ooh a flying visit..interesting!!!...can you get work to pay by requesting a f2f instead of this videoconferencing malarkey??:rotfl::p or do you have any airmiles to cash in? I do like the idea of a surprise!!!
