NL - hi hunny.
Everyone seems to be giving good advice about everything. I have nothing to add but just a hug as I would feel awful knowing my mum didnt feel too good and was so far away.
Hope all the pooches are well.
Nice sunny day here today - made me think of your big springclean planned for next week - it was you I think?0 -
Hi LAM, Yes my big spring clean is planned for next week. Elbow grease, the radio and hard work will do wonders to take my mind off things.

Good for you!
It is a bit worrying that she has many meds and some are non concomitant .... Not sure what you can do other than tell her doctor but presumably they are the one prescribing these? I would usually sea take them to a pharmacist for review, but clearly in the present state this is not an option !

A lot of people have payment plans set up with HMRC. Not everyone can always afford their tax bills through one reason or another. As long as your return goes in on the 31st you wont get a penalty - you just end up owing interest on the amount outstanding.
Interesting. I never knew that. I'm self-employed and I just always save a percentage of my income in a separate account so the bill is covered. It just wouldn't occur to me that it would even be an option not to pay it!£2 savers club 2013 #1630 -

Oh everyone has to pay it - its just a case of when. Not all cases are as simple as putting tax to one side. Sometimes if previous tax years have had P11D expenses / benefits that have not been worked out properly by employers / accountants or tax codes changing (sometimes being messed up by HMRC themselves) things can quickly add up.
Believe me, a lot of people are really good at doing their trade / job but the finance side of things does not come as easily and they rely on others to help them who may not be completely competent themselves. It only takes one mess up with a large figure for it to snowball especially if you are struggling in the first place.0 -

Hi NewLeaf. Yes, I agree that a bit of sunshine does us all the world of good. You seem chirpier today, and so does Robin. Have you read her post today - so uplifting and the fact that you are both feeling a bit better seems to have rubbed off on me, so thank you both, I have been a bit of a grumpy old Dorothy these last few days.0

Don't be grumpy Dorothy, your posts make so happy.

I thought they'd just come right after you if it's not paid on 31st Jan!
Hi Gobbledigook
we have problems with HMRC every year. Despite giving them all the correct information they need, they still give us the wrong tax code. This means we either pay too much or too little through our salary each month. One year we owed them £4k, this year they owed us £1k. I've become a bit of an expert on tax now and call them all the time to correct their errors. I'm not bad with figures but it's very difficult to work it all out correctly. It's reckoned that 60% of people in the UK are being charged incorrectly for their tax now.
