THanks Duder for explanation previously.been as im a newbie.I love this thread & the mispriced thread, find it amazing how T can make so many errors but as they make so much profit a min they are not too bothered.
My next question is when you think there might be an error between the SEL & actual price charged would you selfscan first to see?
What happens when its buy one get one free, the discount would only show at the till (if it comes off)am I right?
Thanks Lisa0 -

Hi, where its just a misprice on a single item if the store has scanners you can check the price, but with offers bogof or 3 for 2 or similar this will only show when scanned through a till.0 -
pfpf wrote::j i'll be in good 'ol Brid for a few hours on Monday..didnt know if there was a Tesco's there, but i do now
maybe you could help? is it a decent sized store? any scanners/wall scanners and are there any of those Board Games there?
Talking of the board games, do we have an upto date list of whats scanning right and what isnt?
The Brid store is pretty big but it isnt an extra, well maybe not that big the non food ect is on the far back wall from the door. There was a working scanner in there in one of the earlier ailes but I didnt really look for them, I couldnt get a game to scan last time I was trying for PS2 lego starwars but the price had dropped.
The games go and find out, you cant be expecting people to tell you what you can get in each store, unless its a price mistake that is national the expired sell offers are just alot of luck if you get them.jaffacat wrote:find it amazing how T can make so many errors but as they make so much profit a min they are not too bothered.

When you think about the number of different things available to buy in Tesco they dont really make alot of mistakes, it seems that way becasue we find them. Tesco head office are always changeing prices, some up some down and the store staff have to keep up with them and ocasionally the make a mistake by not removing an expired sel. The meat misprices are just a thing of old stock being left out without a new sticker to follow the SEL price changeing.
If you notice a discrepency between the SEL and the a sticker or another SEL or suspect a mistake take the item to one of the instore price check machines there are usually 2 in each store but if the work is another matter. Dontuse the self scan checkkouts for price checking. In order of preference I use the price check, pharmacy, a checkout, the guy with a hand held scnner in that section and if im on a "recon misson" I will use customer services asa last resort as then you cant really buy the item and then go for the r+r they will proberbly reconise you.
Bogofs and multibuys ect you dont know if they will work or not, most of those finds are people buy them normally and see they dont work, there are the ones where the larger SEL shows that 1 item in included and that an item has a white SEL can be a good indicator that the offer wont trigger if you include that item like with the selection boxes and the just cause + xbox 360. The other way you have an inclination they may be an over charge is an expired SEL.0 -
Called in at my local Tesco last night on the way to pick up my wife. Nothing worth buying so I left with a bottle of red (25% off). But it did make me think.
There seems to be three reasons why people seek out R&Rs.
1. To get one back at Tesco
2. To save money (on anything)
3. To reduce shopping bills.
Reading the posts it seems as if an increasing number of people are visiting Tesco just to seek out bargains and not as part of their normal shopping trip. If you are, consider this;
It's a round trip of 6 miles to my narest store and takes 10 minutes each way, plus say, 10 minutes instore.
My car costs 50p(ish) per mile to run according to the AA - £3
Half an hour of my time at the average wage of about £450 - £6
A cheap loaf of bread to hide the fact that I'm really only there for R&R - 50p
Total cost £9.50. So unless I can save more than this, reasons 2 & 3 are out.
Now, I shop at Morrisons, so if I start to shop at Tesco to avoid these extra costs they're getting £60 a week out of me. - There goes reason 1
So, is thir R&R policy really so generous?

But if part of your daily routine it to buy your lunch from Tesco's or you pass one on the way home from work then it is well worth the effort.
I had £1200 worth of stuff last month so if it cost me that in time in Diesel then I'm
A: pricing my wages too high
B: Gordon Brown has put the price of Diesel up again and the 5p's off fuel I got from tesco's cant be working
C: For my normal shopping I also get Clubcard points which I going to use for a nice holiday!!
Just like to add, all that was not just for me for instance I have just given a L mobile and a PSP to my sister in law who is a primary school teacher as there is a lad at her school who is very poorly and they are raising money to send him to America.
Every little helps. We took on Mr T and we won:D
Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now :beer:0 -

Yes, if you live close enough or pass by them on a regular basis;){Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -

Unfortunately I don't, so i'll just have to keep monitoring the threads and swoop on the big savings:sad:
On another point, when I drove into Tesco I noticed the cameras monitoring the entrance. I've been told it's a number plate recognition system and if you overstay you get a parking ticket posted to you.
Does anyone know if it's true? and if so they must get details from DVLA. I thought (or more probably assumed) that this personal data would only be available to the Police. Anti theft camera's I can live with, but personally I think this is a camera too far.

Or you forgot option 4:
Similar to number 1, but instead of fannying around going to every tesco I can find I do it when I am passing one. If I'm going into town or the city for something, I'll nip into tesco and cost them some money. I don't shop there, I don't shop at any supermarket, I don't buy a loaf of bread to 'hide the R&R' (I wouldn't dream of actually giving them money).
So anything I get free is costing me absolutely nothing other than a few mins calling into tesco, buying something and being refunded.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -

Just shows what is out there mate. If you put the time and effort in then it is easily achieveable. That is me who cant find any Meat so some on here will be doing better than that!!
I have started keeping a Excel spreadsheet so I can keep a track of what I have had from Mr T :rotfl:
My original target was £100 a week, I did that in a day when the PSPs and Xboxes messed up. Plus phones, games, DVDs and CDs. Just keep your eyes on the tickets and you will find it.
Suppose it helps I was a price controller at Sainsburys for over 3 years so I dont really have to look that hard to find misprices, as it was my job day in day out for so long.We took on Mr T and we won:D
