You should have just blurted out OLD STOCK! How old? Will it be POISONOUS??? That would have shut her up and got your r&r I'm sure.

Actually, I did go to CS today and inform them that I'd been undercharged. I was basically told that it was my lucky day! Given one of the items to the local charity shop.

I did question her on this, 3times ,and she started to get mixed up.
I knew it was an r&r and she said she was "just doing my job"

My 'phone number is ex-directory; I am careful not to give personal details casually; I shred addressed/named post etc.
Some posters give false/incomplete details - why give any at all?
A polite but firm and authoritative refusal is the one to aim for.

There is no set limit it all depends on how much of an @rse the customer service agent is, or for that matter how much of an @rse you are when claiming your r&r. This is something which is generally decided on the spot by someone who wants to intimidate you by having your details and you knowing they have them, nothing more than that, they have no right to ask believe it or not, it's not just a case of you have the right to refuse, if they ask for such details they must have a specific reason and a lawful one at that, Tesco to the best of my knowledge do not hold a licenced database for the storing and gathering of data related to refunds.

I know that there are people on here who are outraged when someone suggests that you should give a false name/address, but the fact is Tesco get what they deserve here as they shouldn't be asking for it in the first place. And the old chestnut about it's to discourage staff fraud is a total nonsensical red herring...

When the local scumdog mp (and their little lapdog councillers) have had their address used for hundreds of returns tesco's database starts to make no sense..
