Think I might construct a to-do list for tomorrow:

    23. Do any surveys I receive (5 so far)
    24. [STRIKE]Play on Bingoport[/STRIKE]
    25. Wrap up sister's DVD (that finally arrived yesterday)

2 tasks down, 23 to go. I managed to redeem for another £5 on Bingoport so I am now waiting for £35 in Amazon vouchers.

I was going to use some for my friend's birthday present in January but I have still got a £3.50 Tesco voucher so will pop in there after christmas to see if they have any smelly sets or chocolates for half price and buy them instead. Need to save those Amazon vouchers for my mum and niece's birthdays in April and May.

10 more questions and then better tackle the washing up.

    Hi Beccie

Not a daft question at all. I mainly play bingo on there. It is all free and you can get points through various methods (wicked wheel if you have less than 200, 1,000 a day from posting in the forum and at the moment the advent calendar). It is 10,000 to get a £5 voucher but it is usually possible to get at least one a week if you play regularly. I just leave it running in the background and remember to renew my tickets every 5 games.

Good luck if you have a go.

Thanks Emily! Will check this out once we get our internet at home back again - not looking like till Xmas Eve at the moment! x

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all had a good day.

I had lots of lovely presents. I have enough make-up and toiletries to open my own branch of Boots. My OH got me a gorgeous pair of boots and I got lots of other lovely things.

I have made a good moneysaving start for 2011. I got loads of No7 sets and have managed to put together a gift for my friend's birthday from the duplicate parts and the ones I won't use. So I can use my £3.50 Tesco voucher for something else.

Anyway, my contact lenses are bugging me so I now plan on taking them out and reading before bed. Need some new ones which I ordered a few days ago but will have to put up with these until at least Wednesday :(.

    Happy New Year everyone .

I love new years - makes me feel all optimistic about a fresh start. Will try to keep the optimism going for as long as possible. I have started the year as I mean to go on and have already done 100 questions today :). Means that I can take it easy tonight.

Unfortunately last week wasn't very MSE. I had real problems with my contact lenses on Monday and I couldn't put them in at all so couldn't see and therefore couldn't work. I get my lenses from the internet so don't have an optician as such.

Finally managed to get in to see someone at Vision Express. Had to have an eye test and contact lens check up which cost £50 :(. I then would have had to buy lenses on top of that (about £20 :(). So in the end I signed up to their direct debit scheme but had to pay for 3 months of lenses up front (£60 :(). However, I got the checks for free and will now get free checks on my eyes, free solution and free lenses if I damage one. He also said my eyes had gotten worse and I apparantly have different shaped eyes .

So that was me skint for the week. I have about 50p to my name at the moment which I need to use for a reserved library book. Will have some more money by Wednesday. Put my last £9 in my car yesterday (included £3 from my OH and a £3.50 Tesco voucher) and have £5 on my debit card if I get desperate. I have enough food in from Christmas so shouldn't have to spend anything.

OH is back from his parents and don't I know it!! As soon as he came back this was the conversation:

OH: Where are we going for lunch then?
Me: I can't afford lunch, I don't have any money. We can eat here.
OH: Oh come on, I'll pay half.
Me: (as if I were speaking to a 2 year old) I......don't.......have.......any.......money!!

I really don't know what he thinks I mean when I say I am skint. I'm sure he thinks that I have a few hundred quid stashed under the mattress (I wish!!).

Anyway, that was yesterday and in the end he paid for a Harvester. Last night I just kept my mum company as I had to work on the questions to get my percentage down so didn't spend any money. Have been at my mum's for most of the day too so had dinner here. OH is still at his mate's after last night as far as I know.

I was thinking earlier that 2011 has to be the year of action. I have a lot of things that I need to sort out this year and some habits that I want to break. The main ones are:
    • Get my teeth sorted. Really need to do this. However, I will have to go private. I know that isn't very MSE but I am petrified of dentists and I managed to build up the courage to go to an NHS one and she was horrible and basically shouted at me when I pushed her hand away. Anyway, my OH's mum has recommended her dentist who I met and he seems really nice and she said he is very gentle so hopefully he can sort me out. I know it will cost a fair bit but I need to get it sorted so kind of see it as essential.
    • Do my washing. I seem to let it build and build and build and then have an overflowing basket. I want to get my backlog cleared and then dedicate 2 days a week to doing the washing.
    • Take my make-up off when I go to bed. Terrible at this and it really affects my skin so I have to start doing it. I was given a load of No7 stuff for Christmas so I have no excuse.
I have some more I am sure, but I seem to be rambling now so may come up with a more definitive list later.

  • Happy New year! I too like the new start feeling, the conversation with your OH made me laugh, reminds me of conversations with friends, you coming out? me: no them why not? Me: I don't have any money, them: there is a cash machine near the restaurant .................hmmm not exactly what I meant ladies but hey ho!

I went private for my teeth, he is lovely very kind and patient. I too am scared rigid of them and hadn't been for over 10 years, it has cost me a bomb tho and I need more work that I have put off cos of the debt, be prepared! but I think it is worth it. And in the mean time floss!

Thanks Buffy. I think it will be worth it. My teeth aren't rotting or anything, but it has been a while since I went to a dentist (properly) and I know that my gums need some attention and I definitely need some fillings. He is going to do a plan of what I need done and said that I can do it month by month so I think I will just have to do that. My OH's £400 towards the rent and bills will go a long way to paying for it I think. Eventually, I want to get them straightened and white. But I think that will have to wait until I am debt free ;).
