Scumbags? Since when has an organisation that provides entertainment been known as scumbags.

Do you sleep okay at night knowing that most people who end up in court are single parents or low income families ? No they shouldn't have a right to watch true FTA channels without being forced to subsidise you first isn't that right Jack

I think you have lost the plot a bit. TV is not an essential. You will not die without TV. If you want to own a TV you should buy a TV licence.

You could use your argument in any situation. Hell i'm not paying road tax, I'm not going to pay council tax etc. Carry on with your 11 man revolution against the TV licence, and let us know when you're up in court. I may even take the day off to come and watch

I knew it wouldn't be long before our general taxations came into this its always used because you have little else to fight for the licence fee with. I do drive a car and I know the roads need paying for so I do it but the BBC isn't a vital public service its to keep people like YOU happy. Tell everyone here if the BBC/Licence fee is so great why are you agains't subcription ? Could it be the truth is the majority will pay the BBC back for all those years of being forced to fund it ;)

    Hi Slenderkitten,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but I would like to reply to your points.
    garden doesn't apply to everyone

I agree that all my suggestions will not apply to everyone or be to their liking.
After all some people may be allergic to dogs and not everyone can travel to certain places or have all the facilites available however I do get the impression that you are trying to come up with excuses against every single suggestion to do something productive.
This would be good exercise for you as well as meeting people and gaining skills which might help you later in your career. -- well experience tells me unless the job your after is related in some way to walking dogs, this may not be the right way to help your career.

I do not have a career that is related to dogs.
It's not quite what I meant.
What I meant was that from doing this you would gain simple disciplines, like having to be somewhere at a certain time (I'm not being patronising).
You would also get skills in meeting and talking to people.
As you are meeting people you may meet someone who is useful and may be able to help you in a completely unrelated career (it's called networking).
If you sit in the house all day you will never meet anybody and never get any opportunities.
If you meet people there is a small chance that you might meet someone who can help you in another completely different area of life.
If not, then there is still the opportunity to get a good reference as someone who is trustworthy and reliable which is still valuable even if totally unrelated to any future career.
The skills of getting up at the right time, being somewhere on time, dealing with people, acting responsibly, being reliable and being trutworthy are very useful.
Also for many people getting back their self-confidence is very important.
If you don't like dogs then that's find, discard that particular suggestion, however I find it hard to believe there is nothing at all available.
If you wanted to stay in the warm but still get some useful "life skills" like dealing with people then a charity shop is another example and these are EVERYWHERE.
What about cleaning, babysitting, dog walking for people? *- You have to be vetted to do some of these

Woth respect I think you are talking rubbish and coming up with no end of excuses.
You do not need qulification to clean someones house, although it's quite natural that they would want to interview you.
I wouldn't let a stranger into my house with all my valuables without giving them an interview.
Have you even done any of these things yourself

I have cleaned, walked dogs and babysat in the past (all without qualifications).
i mean there is no way i would walk a dog and have to pick up their excrement

If you don't like dogs then that's fine.
    Discard that one suggestion.
I do not accept however that there is nothing available to you that you could do which would be better for you (enhance your skill or opprtunities in some way) than watching TV.
What about getting involved in local committees? - not quite sure in what capacity you are thinking of, these are sometimes subject to interview

What is so offputting about having an interview?
If someone way cleaning my house I would want to talk to them before letting them lose on my TV, computer and jewelry.
If someone is entrusting you with their children then of course they wish to know something about you. No responsible parent will leave their children with a complete stranger who could be an axe-murderer.
The act of having an interview is GOOD practice for the future.
Why do you have a problem with this.
You are putting obstacles in the way of good suggestions to avoid doing anything productive.
i assume you don't watch the TV at all?

    Wrong assumption.
I do watch TV and I have never said that people should not watch TV.
TV has a useful place is peoples lives if used sensibly.
I enjoy keeping up with the news (usually whilst doing something else).
    I also enjoy Eastenders.
I either relax AFTER doing something productive OR I get on my exercise machine at the same time so that I get the benefit of exercise whilst I'm watching it.
I do not watch excess amounts of TV and it does not stop me doing productive things.
i have tried to offer my services to a number of organisations through CVS

Well done, glad to here it.
I am sorry that they didn't bother to reply.
You could try approching some organisations locally in person.
There are lots of charity shops that need help.
Whilst you may not want a career in retail the skills of dealing with the public are valuable.
I think you need to be thinking generically about skills i.e. not necessarily the retail sector but dealing with the public, handling problems, organising, punctuality, politelness, reliability.
These are useful skills in ANY job so the experience is valuable even if you do not want a job that is related.
