I asked them and they said they would convert my existing account into a post paid one on my existing sim/number.

Apparently, their system is down to do this at the mo, so couldn't order...

I don't think you can port from/to the same provider tho, but could be wrong.

The phone is ok for free, with no extra commitment ;)

    its 0800 408 9342

    however, hardly worth trying, lol!!
i decided to sit it out today and hold until my call was answered...being 0800! it's free anyway. My first attempt lasted 16 minutes. My second attempt, i was on hold for more than 45 minutes...really!! ... my phone timed it! I couldnt believe that anyone else would have held on for so long, so either - every connected call lasted longer than this, or - no one was answering.

i've tried a few times since, no luck.

just trying again now - new recorded message saying there's very long queues, and unless you want the 4 for £40, try the web site. As this is part of the ntl 4 for 40 deal i guess i need to hold.....

.....automatically went to ansaphone after 7 minutes

..... tried again, went straight to ansaphone - they've obviously decided to stop incoming calls for a while!:)

    Hi

I just want to get a few things straight

I've been an NTL customer for around 6years, currently on the 3 £30 package, so i'm eligible for the new £10 pay monthly SIM which gives 300 xnet mins and texts.

Does the 0800 408 9342 number connect you to NTL or Virgin ? and do i have to specifically ask for a Lobster phone? or will they offer me that anyway?

    Thanks

The offer is open to Cable Customers - so I think the answer to your question is yes

    call Virgin on 08004089342

    Quote 'free lobster offer'

There is a delivery charge of £2.99 for the phone but apart from that the phone is free

Tariff is £10.00 per month with 30 days notice of cancellation

How long is this free lobster on for ? and do you have to use the Lobster phone? because i've already got a pretty decent phone, so i was thinking i could sell the Lobster on, would that be allowed?

offer ends 31/12/06 however the t's and c's also state that the handsets are subject to availability.
As for putting the Virgin sim into your own phone I think your phone would have to be unlocked.

    Hope this helps

Does Virgin check to see if your number is actually an NTL or Telewest number? Has anyone managed to get this offer when not a cable customer?

Yes, they ask for your NTL/Telewest account number. So, i think they check it to an extent.
