They are so disorganised I'm sure they would not even notice on board,The staff at the Newcastle check-in are really nice btw, so are most on board, its just when things start going wrong, the Norwegian staff loose their way.

I can only imagine what that crossing will be like, with the drunken Norwegian booze cruisers

I went on mine at the weekend, came back on Tuesday. I had a great time, I've been on one before so I knew what to expect. The food on the boat is expensive but I took plenty of food with me so I only had to buy a couple of meals. If you don't drink in the bar you can drink cheap booze from the duty free anywhere else on the boat.
I'd recommend people to go, just remember to either take a lot of food or a lot of money.

    Hand made sweaters(a speciality) £130!

You'll be talking about Dale sweaters I presume. It's an unfair price example, it's like complaining about car prices in England and mention Roll's Royce as an example.. It's a world famous brand, people come to Norway from USA and buy 10 of them at a time (for the whole family), and they last for years and years.

    Dale Wintons jumpers? ;)

This thread is hysterical, people are describing the trip from hell and then you get someone asking about plugs for hairdryers. NO WAY am I going anymore.

Hmmm considering it's going to cost me £60 for me and OH to get there and another £30 for the B&B the night we come back I don't know if I want to go now or if it's worth it. I'll speak to OH tonight and see what he thinks. he was sick on the Dover to Calais ferry so I'm sure his answer will be no :rotfl:

Can I just say a couple of things? (And no, I'm not going - never applied for it in the first place :p).

First of all, we're talking about crossing the North Sea in the winter - of course it's going to be rough. That's just something you've got to accept and should have thought about when you booked the cruise in the first place. It's not DFDS's fault if the ferry was delayed due to the weather, and it's something that people should've been aware of.

BTW I'm not a great fan of DFDS. I've been on their trip from Newcastle to Gothenburg (in Sweden) via Bergen last year. We went in August and it was mega rough on our way back - seriously, I thought I was going to die. :o

The ferry is not great - it's small, there's not that much to do. But it's not horrible IYSWIM, just a bit naff. I've been on better/bigger ships in my life, but that's just the way it is.

The food was okay when we went, both the evening and morning buffets. Not amazing, but fine. I even managed to eat some breakfast after a whole night of being sick. :o

We never experienced rude staff either.

IMHO if you don't have amazing expectations, you'll be fine. I think the problem here is people went on the cruise expecting something amazingly wonderful (for free) and it wasn't.

(BTW I do think the attitude of the staff people have mentioned is unacceptable and if it was me, I'd complain to their HO. After all, if they're giving out free cruises to promote the company, they're not advertising it very well).

Wow your all really lucky. where was i when this was posted? :(

Please, if anyone has changed their mind or ends up not being able to go on this would they consider letting me and hubby(and even 2 kids) have their places? We've been having a lot of bad luck lately and i would love to treat my hubby for being a rock through the rough times.

If you can please PM me.

Who said I was complaining?I just gave the price.
Note I said "Hand made".If I described a car as hand made, then people would know it wasnt a Ford Focus.
I agree about the quality, which is why I treated the missus to a £25 scarf.
  • Opened a box of ferrero roches last night, which i purchased on board, and they taste rank, the bicuity bit is soggy. They can't even get that right.
    Bloody load of crap DFDS.
