    woah

thanks for the PM haveagoade :)

im sooooooooooo glad we had decided not to go !!!

if anyone is so stupid as to want to go they can have ours lol
  • To be fair Bergen is a lovely place to go and really Christmasy now as well, its the long journey there thats the problem.

To be fair to DFDS, if you went Commodore class you might just enjoy the crossings ,with a packet of seasick tablets each, each way, of course! The food will be still overpriced and poor value even then.

I spent some time in a Commodore class room and very nice it was too!
Free mini bar, double bed, tea coffee facilities nice showerroom/toilet, and a 20" flat screen tv.
But hey!.........look at the price of it! £400 odd each as foot passengers!

Just a few questions for those in the know:
Do you think they would allow upgrades to Commodore class?
Apart from food and drink are there any other additional charges like taxes etc?
How far is it from the port to Bergen?
In your opinion is this trip suitable for two adults and three children under 8? (I think I know the answer already?!)
Did anyone enjoy their trip? Ever?!
    Thanks everyone :A
  • My kids seem thrilled I've decided not to go, lol !

Have booked a couple of travelodge rooms so may just have one or two days visiting Newcastle, as I've never been up those parts before. We can wave to the ship as it leaves port ! ;)

Are you aware how much commodore class is???????

    and

There are only 16 rooms at Commodore level, and for some reason always booked????(by the Norwegians going on short trip from Bergen to Stravanger).......I'm sure they would be only too pleased to swap a free ticket for a £400+ ticket for you!!!!!!

I asked to take my car over as an extra, listed as £16 each way....answer not allowed........and the decks were empty!

    No extra charges.

Suitable for 2 adults and 3 children under 8........erm well it depends on your tolerence levels really! As I said its too far for a cuople of hours in Bergen, and at this time of year it gets dark more or less straight after lunch, and you don't get any views off the Ferry, cos its also dark all the time.

For me, it was an EXPERIENCE for sure!

Thanks for your reply. I just wondered what the usual cost of the 'cruise' is and if it was anywhere close to the commodore price- just in case they could be persuaded to upgrade us!;) By the sounds of their delightful CS I doubt it! Thanks again

The value of this so called free cruise is as low as £28 each.

The value of this so called free cruise is as low as £28 each. Unless you take a suitcase full of food and drink they'll fleece you on board.
