You try complaining about anything when they turn around and say "But you have paid nothing for this!"......even though we/you make a considerable investment in time and effort to go on the so called "free cruise"

As I said if you can imagine a 20+ year old, expensive cross channel ferry in mountainous seas, for 48hrs, tiny cabins, drunken Norweigens booze cruisers, and feel comfortable......then you'll love it!

Go....... It'll be something you'll never forget for sure!

Thanks Haveagoade Sounds like something I could quite do without,

Methinks I feel a weekend in Prague coming on!!

  • Honestly the trip if far too long for the short time in Bergan.

It is NOT a cruise experience!

If I was to go again (Not with DFDS) I'd take the car and stay for a week or so, and not this time of year either.

DFDS is a ferry company, not a cruise company.

The Newcastle/Bergen ship and route were bought in October from the previous operator. The route and ferry were a financial disaster and will continue to be. The previous ferry operator is in Administration.

The ferry was only out of service for it's 'refit' for 3 days (one crossing), so it's not suprising that only a few carpets were changed and the ferry is falling to bits.

From the photos, the cabins are pretty standard for the north sea routes.

For the duty free traveller, the ferries are geared up for the Scandinavian booze-cruiser, who is used to paying £7-£8 for a pint of lager and £lots for bottles of spirits.

didnt expect it to be holiday cruise but thought like amsterdam route which i really enjoyed 3 years ago,
  • What really gets me is the cheek DFDS has in mentioning the word cruise.

I'll have to tell the local council run boating lake to rebrand and relaunch as afternoon pleasure cruises!

No Chavs in the Crowne Plaza where I usually stay.

Didn`t see any at Bizets Carmen at the Opera House last time I was there

I don`t travel Easyjet and I guess the type of place I eat and socialise in doesn`t appeal to Chavs either.

They are welcome to Wenceslas et al in the witching hours,it`s not my scene.

Reading that Islandannie, you will be best to avoid the "CRUISE"......for sure, as bingo and pints bars, naff 1980's style disco's, & Little Chief dinning, sums up this "FREE" ferry crossing to Bergen.
