And if it's the DWP you're worried about, they will find out, worry not. :rotfl:The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Going by previous posts, it suggests that you want to hide it from the benefit agencies so that you can continue to live off the tax payers ?
Which is tantamount to benefits fraud, hope u get caught0 -

Maybe Jay could confirm whether he wants do 'hide' this money for legitimate reasons or whether he is a thieving parasite who is trying to defraud the taxpayer?0 -
if you are on benefits and do not declare it fraud and the dwp can get an order to have full access to any bank etc records without you knowing they are even looking. you also need to inform council if claiming housing and council tax benefit and the tax man etc. read previous threads on mse for effects of not declaring it. storing money under the bed etc will probaly place house at greater risk, invalidate insurance (not informing them of material facts) and ensure money loses value- eroded by effects of inflation. if you try and spend the money be careful with dwp 'disposal of assets' clauses (i.e. deliberately spending money to get under income and capital limits for benefits etc).
suggest you also read this thread (if appropriate)

Before you start thinking of Swiss accounts etc, Google for "witholding tax".0 -
Jay, anonymous from who? The government will know whatever UK account you use, if interest is paid. Other banks won't generally know.
There might be a credit reference agency check for money laundering identification check but that won't be disclosed to other banks or creditors, just to you.
An online bank with no paper statements is best if you want to avoid getting letters but even those may choose to send you a letter from time to time, like once a year with a tax statement.
The large sum of money is likely to be tracked going from the check that pays you into whatever account it is deposited into. If you withdraw it as cash both the withdrawing and depositing are likely to be reported for money laundering prevention.
If your mail is private and you're not trying to dodge the government, it's tolerably easy to achive reasonable anonymity.0 -
And the question youve got to ask yourself is, are you a criminal ? because thats what you will be....0

Under the FSA Regulations 2003 and the JMLSG Guidance Notes 2006, all financial institutions have a regulatory obligation to carry out due diligence checks on all customers. They'll want at the very least a certified copy of your passport, and a utility bill confirming your address. So no, you won't be able to do hide your identity; it's a huge red flag to any Compliance person, and they would simply refuse to open an account for you.
Every financial institution has an MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) and they are criminally responsible for any financial fraud which occurs on their books - companies pay them shedloads of money because it's their butt which would be hauled to jail. It's stringent enough when the client is another financial institution, and as an individual you're way down the 'foodchain' so to speak. Any single transaction larger than EUR 15,000 will trigger extra checks by the Middle Office/Risk department, which you won't know about because it's a criminal offence to tip a customer off that they are being investigated. Don't even think about it - it would be a complete waste of everyone's time. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0
