Hi all,
Just looking for a little advice.
Is there such thing as a anonymous bank account?
I'm in line for a large amount of money from a no fault accident and wondered if their was such thing.
As i don't want other banks or others to know what i have and keep it hidden away.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks.
Regards
Jay

How could there be? When you think of all the kerfuffel you have to go through nowadays - because of money laundering - just to open an account. Also, I think banks have to be able to declare what's what to the Revenue people.0

put the cash under the matress
banks would not know - just open an account at a different bank0 -
Simple answer is ...no... not in this country0

Chesky369 and Tils are absolutely right, not a chance with a UK account.
Money laundering regs require the account holder to be known along with the general purposes of an account's operation. One-off large payments will always arouse the suspicions of any bank staff worth their salt, although their banks may have slightly different procedural requirements for dealing with these.
Your desire to remain anonymous can only suggest one thing - you are a mastermind criminal with the intention of trying to make legitimate the proceeds of your mafia-type lifestyle - and by so doing your true identity has been revealed: Mr Coreleone I presume!
Other banks aren't necessarily going to find out the amount that you put into an account opened with a different provider unless you declare it yourself. Although there is an element of data sharing between banks coming in for credit scoring purposes they will not disclose the actual contents of an individual's account to anyone other than HMRC for tax purposes the data networks are just not in place to be able to do this and would probably be infringeing (sp) on elements of the Data Protection Act - not a legal expert but would assume this to be the case!0 -
thinking out loud, is gold purchase an option? failing that, renting a safety deposit box? no returns but possible anonymity?

I have givern this some extensive thought and the best I can suggest, as daft as it initially sounds, is that you give your money to me to look after for you.
That way it wouldn't have your name attached to it, would it? Thus it would be totally anonymous as far as you are concerned.
Naturally, I am sure you will surely be concerned about the question of trust.
Well, I know we haven't yet met but, for me that isn't important at all. I trust you implicitly. I have absolutely no problems believing the 'no fault' accident did happen as you indicate and was really not your fault.
Anyhow, if you want to take things further, just let me know, eh? I'm sure our new relationship would immediately be very mutually profitable and I do assure you I can and would be sure to provide you with the anonymity you require.
Kind regards, etc, etc.0 -
Someone I know buys chunks of Premium bonds instead of saving. Chances are you might win something and you can cash them in at the drop of a hat apparently.
That way they wouldn't be reported to Experian or equifax if that's who you're worried about0 -
It's more likely to be the taxman that jay is worried about. The credit reference agencies might even appreciate it if you came into some extra dosh.
Don't run away, jay. We're not usually this cruel.
:rotfl: at DocProc's post, though.0
