Wintermute wrote: »Are the brand name shoes that Sports Direct sell factory seconds? The reason I ask is they're so much cheaper than anywhere else and they don't seem to last, about a year ago I bought a pair of airwalk skate shoes, they got very light wear and lasted less than a year (soles coming away from the upper and a hole in the sole), but I liked the style and design so I bought another pair, these have been getting slightly heavier use, but are showing signs of wear already (they're only a month old!).
We wondered the same thing. OH got a pair of Nike trainers which started coming away within weeks. When he took them back the Manager was very 'antsy' in his attitude and started trying to tell OH he'd put them in the washing machine. He hadn't and he'd actually only worn them a few times and only for leisure not for sport.
He eventually changed them but it was certainly unwillingly.
I'd had cause to phone SD and had the phone picked up and put down immediately. It happened several times and I assumed it was because the store was busy. When instore, I mentioned it in passing to the Manager (I was talking to him about something else) and he all but called me a liar. He said none of his staff would ever do that.
After our experience we wouldn't be giving Sports Direct any more of our money I'm afraid.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Apparently Rules surrounding recordings in the DPA etc dont cover recordings made for journalistic purposes. Maybe the OP could argue their review classes as a form of jounalism:D
..... maybe:beer:Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

DPA - Data protection act
The op stated they made the recordings for their reviews, and seeing as rules of DPA dont apply to journalism etc, then the recordings probably arnt illegal.
Its a possibility anyways.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I think for a years worth you would be lucky to get that out of any trainers..
I've got a pair or similar style shoes (Duffs) that are probably about 4 years ago and are still wearable and I've had a few pair of Vans in a similar style that have lasted well over 2 years. I thought Airwalk were a reasonable brand which was why I thought they were seconds, but for the price you can't really expect too much.0 -
1st off:
Secondly, I ordered the new Newcastle away shirt on their site and it clearly stated it comes with a free prem badge on the arm. When it arrived it didn't so I emailed them and they said I had to return it for them to put the badge on and that they didn't offer compensation. :@
If Fat mike starts to give more money to Newcastle for players, SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE. If he doesn't then don't botherThought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

IME Duffs are pretty much the daddy when it comes to quality in skate shoes, with DCs, Vans and etnies a step lower, and Airwalk way, way down the bottom. I challenge any skater to get 3 months wear out of a pair of Airwalk 'skate' shoes.
Although the knees have gone nowadays so i get twice as long as I used to when I skated, lol.0
