Put feet up on the seat and got a criminal record

As I'm now not drunk
, I'll elaborate on why I have put a foot up on the seat opposite.
When you're sitting on the back seat, the one which spans the back of the bus, if you're in the middle you have nothing in front of you to grip onto. Occasionally you get a bus driver who drives like he's practising for the F1. So, to keep myself steady and make sure I remain seated, and not in a heap in the middle of the aisle, I put a foot up on the corner of one of the seats facing the back (I'm short, so can't stretch to the bottom of the seat opposite) It's either doing that, or grabbing on to a complete stranger who I'm sitting next to. Anyway, people are moaning about feet, I dread to think about where some people have had their hands, that use the bus.
You can all relax anyway, I've now got my own car.

I travel to and from work, 35 miles each way, on a train. It's not cheap at £3900 a year, the trains are old, there's no air conditioning, but driving to work isn't an option. The behaviour of some people who I travel alongside is a constant source of wonder and disgust to me.
Aside from the feet on the seat brigade, there are the putting on full makeup women, I've seen nail filing, eyebrow plucking and even teeth flossing (eurgh!). Then on the train home, we have the Burger King munchers and The Pasty Shop customers. If I had my way, I'd close down the bl00dy Pasty Shop at Liverpool Street station, it stinks.
If I were the beak, the OP's nephew would be given life imprisonment without parole, or would have to travel on National Express East Anglia every day, in the seat next to me while I berated him all the way there and all the way back."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I'm no expert, but I reckon they're nearly as old as me and I was 50 yesterday!
Actually, I Googled and stand corrected!

Long time lurker...first time poster.
When I first read the OP I thought it was a toddler who got caught not a 28 year old!!!!! I work for the company in question and since the fines for feet on seats started, the number of people who do this has been reduced.
How can he not have seen the posters at the stations, on the trains and also the stickers that are on the trains warning people no to do this!!
How would you like it if you had a brand new suit, coat on and you sat on a seat that was dirty because someone had decided to put their feet up, I know I wouldn't like it.
There has been a lot of support from passengers who use our trains about fining people, there are only a minority who are against it, and they are usually the ones that like to put their feet up on seats.0 -

We are the only TOC in the country to do this, and as I say it has really reduced the number of people who put their feet on seats! And my TOC started doing this because of the number of complaints we had from passengers!0 -
I live in hope that my local train operator brings the rule in and starts enforcing. Mind you, they'll have to be brave, south Essex can be like the badlands."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

To be fair though it was all the rage years ago before privatisation and most TOCs still have the notices up and will enforce it if they see fit - or they have a BTP member on board.
Just hope they all roll it out fully soon but there's people on here who do not like getting fined/in trouble for anything on the railways as they see it as a free ride.one of the famous 5
