Put feet up on the seat and got a criminal record

Hi all

Just heared the most ridiculous thing.

My mother in law and her son went for a day out to liverpool on the train from oswestry

Apparently the son picked up a anti social behavior fine and court summons for having his feet on a seat - hes now faced with a criminal record!!! Its the most ridiculous thing ive ever heared but obviously there must have been problems on these trains in the past but anyway they dont go far normally - they dont drive and usually just stay in oswestry so a day out was kinda like a treat

After a bit of googling it looks like they are quite rife for this sort of thing up there

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-479607/Cub-Scout-leader-court-putting-feet-train-seat-just-seconds.html

Does anyone have any advice - should he just admit it - I dont know if he had a warning or wot but as he was with HIS MOTHER Im sure it was just nothing (hes like 28 too so not a yob with a hooodie)

I bet they have some footage on these head cams too so you can never tell I suppose until you go to court

The thought of having a criminal record for that is just crazy

Thanks for any advice guys

The Merseyrail enforcement officer took down Miss Jennings's address, phone number and occupation - and even recorded what she was wearing.

Of course they would m- all facts are needed to present a case to court.

Must admit they are going over board here but on the other hand would you want to sit on a seat that may have !!!!! and such everywhere.

there were notices on the trains and she chose to ignore them

The young lady in the link you posted got a absolute discharge. The feeling on the bench was that it was a somewhat draconian way to go about things. However that doesn't give any precedence

He really needs to see a solicitor

why put his feet on the damn seat? It is a crappy thing to do. Who knows what he has walked through? You'd soon be shouting about suing if you'd sat on a seat covered in crap or chewing gum or something.

They wear headcams to get the evidence about people putting feet on seats?
Where are they with their headcams when someone is getting mugged.
  • Although the penalty seems a bit harsh I have to admit that I detest getting on a bus or train and seeing kids with their feet on seats. What ever happened to manners?

I believe it went the way of respect, and taking responsibility for your actions

  • Whilst I do think it's a bit far having a criminal record, I do think a fine is justified.

Worth mentioning is I've been on these trains, the signs are everywhere not to put your feet on seats, and I totally agree with them! I'm sure being 28 years of age he also would have been able to read these signs, barring any sort of learning disablity to the contrary.
  • sorry but I think its justified!

Seats are for sitting on not for feet or bags etc!

hes 28 years old not 28 months old and should of known better! infact his mother should of told him anyway! im 23 and if I did that id get a belt round the ear off my mum! and a right bollo%*ing to boot!

he would soon whine if his clothes got covered in gum, mud or even dog !!!!!! so why should someone elses! it just shows complete rudeness and ignorance!
