I did a search for you and the nearest job I could find was as a casual postman/women 20 miles away in Crowborough...how strange. Maybe you could contact your local mail sorting centre them directly and ask them if they are recruiting? Or maybe they are shutting down??
I'll ask them directly0 -
Debenhams had leaflets about Christmas jobs today0

Debenhams take on loads of Xmas temps, each store decides if it wants to use the debenhams web site or do their own in store recruitment.
Look at the website daily, they will withdraw jobs when they have had enough applicants, so if you spot something in the morning apply then, it may not be there 3 hours later.
What ever you do do not put your CV in the box they put out in the store.
One of my jobs was to open it in January and shred them
There were so many applicants there was no time or need to sieve through the hundreds dropped in that way.
Recruitment started 4 weeks ago, and is on going, even if you don't get offered an interview/job first time, the number that did and then didn't turn up amazed me!
Dress smart, even if it is for the stock room, smile, and be enthusiastic about customer services!!!
Good luck0 -
I applied to Debenhams ages ago and never heard anything back
I've had an interview at Boots and have one at M&S next week so fingers crossed for one of those!0 -
All the major supermarkets, department stores and even the post office always need surplus staff at Christmas. Speak to them. And whilst you're at it, barge in to your nearest temping agency, giving them a brief and to-the-point CV, references and a phone number they're welcome to always phone. Recruiters like that.0

Have you thought of joining Jamie at Home? It's a fab party plan job that you can do as little or as much as you want, to fit around other work committments and/or your family! A good earner, fab socialisation and more enjoyable than stacking empty shelves over the festive season!!
Have a look at jamieathome.com or contact me for more information.
Thanks, mentalpup0 -
There is a thread here regarding Argos Christmas vacancies. My son has just been successful in his application to Argos for Christmas.
Your son is very lucky. My son has applied for Argos two years in succession and has not even had an acknowledgement. I have sent a complaint to Argos about the design of their application form. There is a section for applicants to fill in details of current or previous employers but no space for them to give details of referees other than employers. If a young person has not worked before, where do they put details of their referees?0 -
Some more for you, it does vary from area to area, but these are recruiting nationally.

Also check in your local town centre as there are still stores which recruit the old fashioned way with a poster in the window.
In my home town, Cardiff, BHS has asked people to drop off a CV at customer services. They gave this information online.0
