The store know of my eye condition as had to have 2 weeks off for an op on it and about 6 seperate days off for going to the hospital for appts. Had to have the time off as they put drops in my eyes which make my eyesight even worse and stings like hell.
As to the me being the only one trained on ss sometimes. There are about 8 colleagues on checkouts that aren't ss trained. Twice a week for a few hours I am the only one who is ss trained as the others on manned checkouts are in that group of untrained ss colleagues. Some are unable to do it due to health problems with mobility etc. I was assessed and fit to be ok by my line manager to go on ss tills.
NO MORE POSTS FROM ME!
yes they know about your eyes but do they know that were having problems with the self service tills eg the problems you have described
it doesnt matter your the only trained colleague on self service tills, i dotn think that will make them keep you on as there are other options open eg get a trained colleaue from a local store to come and get others trained up, it cant be that hard to get them trained0 -
Any chance of a bit of sensitivity?
After all this is someone's livelihood we're talking about. Giving advice is a bit like lending money - you won't always be thanked for it and you have no control over what the recipient chooses to do with it. That's the deal.0 -

I love the Sainsburys Fast Track SS tills. You just place the handset in one of the slots above the machine, it downloads all your shopping. If you had a few problem items, sort them out and just pay! Brilliant!

yes what jumpy is talking about is the fast track system where you do your shopping as normal but you use a handheld scanner to scan each item and you pack the food as you go so when you get to the till you hand the scanner over to the operator who downloads the shopping to her till then you pay and out you go0 -
Ears; eyes; dyslexia; bad reaction to anaesthetic which meant you didn't get back to work until a week after you expected to. Oh dear, oh dear. You have been up against it, haven't you? You've had a lot to deal with, and it looks like in those 2 and a half years there's been times when the store has had to limp along without you for quite some time.
What a shame you've now committed fraud, betrayed their trust and given them the perfect excuse to fire you. Till operators do have quite a lot to do with money in their day to day transactions and if I was your boss I'd be arguing pretty hard that you'd have to go as you have proved that you will abuse the system repeatedly and fraudently.
The fact that you seem to come with quite a lot of problems would make you more, rather than less expendable, I'd say.
And as for being irreplaceable, which branch did you say it was? My son is skint and unemployed at the moment, having finished an honours degree in science this summer. He's got a great work history and 8 years voluntary work behind him. He's never defrauded anyone, aways turned up on time, is completely reliable and desperate for a job.
I'll send him along on Thursday afternoon.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -

Ah - sorry - thought Fast Track was Fast Track - my bad!
Mind you - Jumpy's posts in that thread make interesting reading.¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?

Sensitivity?
I have just read some of OP's previous posts. OP shouldn't be working in retail with their attitude.0 -

Presumably, you have to trust the person scanning in the first place otherwise - who is checking that unscanned items haven't found their way into the packed bags?
No wonder they are so popular. Nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean;)If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Am I naive but it would never occur to me to put that I had reused carrier bags if I hadn't.
The same way that I wouldn't press 'none' at the M&S SS till if I'd used one of their bags. Mind you, their SS tills do not like it when you use your own bag!¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?

The OP has been lots of good advice but only latterly seems to have understood the seriousness of the situation.
They have committed deliberate and sustained fraud.
Sensitivity is not what is required, just a harsh dose of reality.0
