I am very ashamed on what I have done. I didn't know the seriousness of my actions. I have learnt my lessons. I have done wrong. I do apologise for what I have done. No-one is 100% perfect.
I will destroy my loyalty card regardless of the outcome!
Jumpy,
This is a start - you have to look at it from their point of view, You're asking your employers to trust you when the evidence says that they shouldn't. It's you and your UR's job to prove that they can.
With regards to the mitigation (dyslexia/eyesight), please don't use this as an excuse - it won't help in fact I'm sure it will make things worse. If you've already mentioned this at your initial meeting then address it by acknowledging the problems but stating that you want to take full responsibility for your actions.
Really hope you get a positive outcome. x0 -

It also implies that the boss themselves aren't perfect; which they aren't but at this point, they are not facing dismissal so it would be best to just admit it and apologise and hope for the best.
Any one of these excuses, will result in the boss wiping the floor with the OP and it being a whole lot worse.
Saved me explaining myself - thanks0 -
so your teling me you didnt know stealing points wasnt right,
i take it you didnt bring it up with management about the keypad and screen glare from the light
I've not mentioned about the glare to the deputy manager yesterday.
The store know of my eye condition as had to have 2 weeks off for an op on it and about 6 seperate days off for going to the hospital for appts. Had to have the time off as they put drops in my eyes which make my eyesight even worse and stings like hell.
As to the me being the only one trained on ss sometimes. There are about 8 colleagues on checkouts that aren't ss trained. Twice a week for a few hours I am the only one who is ss trained as the others on manned checkouts are in that group of untrained ss colleagues. Some are unable to do it due to health problems with mobility etc. I was assessed and fit to be ok by my line manager to go on ss tills.

Explain that you can only apologise for a series of ill-judged decisions, see if your UR can fight for a probationary period with a final written warning removed after a period of blemish free conduct. If you say the bit I have emboldened then that is the best you can do at any meeting DO NOT say "No-one is 100% perfect"
take the above advice and hope for the best0 -

What a long thread Jumpy although I feel really sorry for you to be facing these serious accusations over soemthing that may seem quote trivial it is at the end of the day plain dishonest and fraudulent
These loyalty cards and self service machines are wide open to abuse from customers and also staff, whereas the company would see a fraud on the side of the customer as being quite trivial and may just result in points being taken away for a member of staff it is completely different, you are in a position of trust and the breaking of trust is the thing that will be concerning your emplyers not the fact it boils down to a few points..............
Supermarket staff aren't generally left open to many lines of theft or fraud, you work on a till you start with a float everything is scanned through the till at the end of your shift if your till does not tally theres a problem, you purcahse something from the store to eat or drink in your break time, I have heard on many occassion how staff have to have their receipts signed to prove the goods have been paid for, yet with these self service tills it is left far too easy or them to be abused.
I really think the supermarkets should not be allowing staff to use these tills full stop, they should be telling you that you have to use a manned till or nothing, if they leave a way open for someone to fraud them then its only a numbers game as to how many people will commit the fraud no matter how trivial it is or not.
I cannot offer any advice of what you should do, in these times of high unemployment and things inly set to get worst then keeping hold of your job has to be of high importance, you may not have a choice...........
I do hope it all turns out well for you I really do, people make mistakes it is one of the things that makes us human there are far worst things you could have done, I am not for one minute saying what you have done is OK but you are hardly a master criminal now are you
Chin up, be as honest as you can with the goal in your mind of keeping your job and please learn from this all the heartache and worry you have been through and will go through really is not worth a few nectar card points is it.

I love the Sainsburys Fast Track SS tills. You just place the handset in one of the slots above the machine, it downloads all your shopping. If you had a few problem items, sort them out and just pay! Brilliant!
