I found some reduced sweets in my local Tesco Extra, thought they might be useful for candy buffets, can't find the 1st one online, T's own 'fizzy mix', in a round tub, 475g- £1.01.
the second is T's Value 'fruity flavour jelly mix' 500g- 82p, found these online but still showing full price.

the fizzy mix has a date on of 6/2012 & the jelly sweets 6/2013. i'm sure it will be store dependant so not worth a special trip but worth a look if you're going anyway.
will try & post a pic to make it easier but i'm still not good with technology so it might not work!'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,

) From your wonderful pictures you have all inspired me to do one of these for my own wedding next year.
I was just wondering how you went about "opening" your candy buffets? I mean, did you let people help themselves as soon as they walked into the reception room (i.e. before the meal) or did you keep it covered up until later on (so as to make sure people ate their meal)? I'm just trying to think of how my day will run - getting married at 3pm, having sit down meal around 5.30pm-ish. Having the whole event in one venue so had thought of: ceremony first, then have the sweet buffet outside where people would gather for arrival drinks and they could help themselves while photos are taking place (something for them "to do"), then meal afterwards (the rooms will be re-dressed during this time too)......but then i thought if everyone that comes gorges on sweets (mainly the kids) then they might not eat any of their meal! Think I'm over thinking this a bit and most definitely rambling....:o
So back to my original question - what time of day are you all doing your buffets? Thanks in advance x

I'm planning something a little different, not sure how it will work out but I'm hoping the venue will agree to it. The package deal we are getting only includes two meal courses, soOH's cousin is making cupcakes for the dessert course. I was going to have the cupcakes on stands on the candy table, then have people come up table by table to grab a cupcake and their choice of sweets to decorate it with. That way everyone's cupcake is a little bit different! Then the candy table will be open access to everyone for the rest of the evening.
Do y'all think that sounds do-able?
The other dessert option is obviously to serve slices of wedding cake, but that seems a bit less fun.0 -
of course it does, but i think people will just eat them as they come and take sweets....i would xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

thanks all...think I might save it for after the meal now - might help with the munchies later on in the evening as I'm only feeding everyone once, not having any extra evening guests - just having 100 people all day.0

Hi, we have the same sort of deal as you. Starter and main only. So for dessert, we are serving the wedding cake. We are having a 3 tiered cake and some mini cakes (about 30) and in 6 flavours - so guests can have an option. We are having Tiramisu, orange & ginger, rich choc, fruit cake and carrot cake and it's costing us £400.
It maybe an idea for you to look at. hth
We are also not having a evening buffet - so will have the candy bar, nuts and cookies to soak up all the alcohol lol0 -
jumping on the endof this thread... we want a candy buffet, we have started getting sweets etc, my mum just gave me 10 plastic tubs which used to hold fish food, I was planning on stick them thru dishwasher a couple of times and using these for buffet rather than glass jars, maybe decorate them with labels, what do you think?0

If any has time on their hands why not go to some charity shops and boot sales for glass dishes or ask in the family! there are some lovely ones out there and much cheaper than shops I'm thinking about setting up doing a candy cart business and have been looking round, have fun!!0
