Hi everyone.....
....I was just wondering....for those of you that are having a candy buffet......what kind of sweeties are you all having?
is anyone sticking with the colour scheme for the sweets?
I love the little signs/poems that you can get .....think they are great
any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I am having a hot pink and ivory theme and am secretly doing a candy buffet for my OH who is a sweetie-aholic. I struggled to do all pnk and white as it looked too pale, so Ive chucked a bit of red in as well to zing it up a bit.
Buying as I see things but have got so far:
B&M ie cheaper than usual price - Marshmallows (haribo)heart and starshaped lollies (I weeded the pink an green ones out!)and huge swirly pops
Poundland -strawberry lances, strawberry hearts
Morrisons - value wrapped clear mints (no logo) 39pish a bag and strawberry bon bons 3 for £2 offer
Def want white mice, mini lovehearts and some sugar free selections from t'interweb
Doing pink iced cupcakes with loveheart toppers
Thought of a bowl of fresh strawberries too
Like the look of this: http://budgetdreamweddings.com/2077/candy-buffet-gallery/pink-white-candy-buffet/

Hey guys,
We are sorting our sweetie buffet out at the mo - all the glasses etc have been brought its just trying to figure out what sweets to look out for to get later in year/beginning of next. Our colour scheme is hot pink and orange, so we came up with ideas to fit with that -
fruit salads
cherry lips
rhubarb and custards
millions
laces
smarties etc
but we are also having a disney theme, so we have luggage tags whihc i am going to teastain and then write 'Eat Me' alice in wonder land stlye on them to tie to the jars and then from this we thought of themed sweets...we are swaying more to this idea now!
having sweets that link to films (some wouldnt as can get cheaper 'bulk' sweets too. some of the ideas we have at the mo are;
rosey apples=snow white
traffic light lollies = cars
white mice = cinderella
chocolate shells = little mermaid
popping candy = tinkerbell
long snakes=jungle book
mushrooms (choc or chewy)= alice in wonderland
Have to think more on it really as got to make sure have enough variety with it.
Looking forward to seing other peoples ideas!!:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

wow....those ideas are great.
I really want to have coloured themed sweets but my partner just wants fun, retro sweets.
because we are only having the candy buffet at the evening reception im not too sure how important the colour theme is???
.....we quite fancy having a candy buffet in rainbow (gay pride) colour, as it is a civil partnersip....not too sure how to carry this off without it being too tacky?
it is soooooo interesting hearing all your ideas....carry on.....:happyhear WEDDING DATE 02/07/2011 :happyhear0 -
What is your colour scheme noodles?
We have got coloured ribbon - bout 1cm thick which we are going to tie around the jars to incorperate the theme.
Am going to look for some black cloth and putting boxes underneath on the table so there are different heights for some of the jars to give it more dimension rather than being flat. Then in my local £land they had colourchanging orbs... bit bigger than size of orange and when turn on they change through red to blue, were with all the summer bits so not sure if any left anwhere, but they are going on table too as will reflect off the glass through the black as ours is just for evening too.
Another idea i really liked was using fairy lights on the table too.... just depends whether there a plug close by!
i have got orange+white and pink+white paper bags too so that ties in the colours - maybe could look into that as well to fit in with your colours?:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

OoH just had another idea - what about lining the jars/bowls with your colour theme tissue paper then the sweets - retro or otherwise sitting in them, from the first look its all coloured like your theme.:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

hey curleylou
we are having a peacock colour scheme together with touches of black and white....so basically teal, black and white.
thanks for all your ideas.
I have seen some ideas for bags on ebay......fairly plain but was thinking that i could jazz them up ribbon etc.
OMG........I love planning....lol:happyhear WEDDING DATE 02/07/2011 :happyhear0 -
For my daughters wedding, 2 weeks ago, we had a sweet table. We had 1 huge jar that was layered with millions, the layers weren't straight or even ammounts and it looked great. My daughter wanted a mixture of colours and we had great fun planning it.
We didn't go with labels as they weren't bothered about them but this site looks great.... http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/free-candy-buffet-tags-sign-and-banner-in-exchange-for-advertisting-ma-onlyNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
oohh lovely theme!
well you could get a black table cloth/material too - have all your jars/bowls laid out on the table as you wish - teal/turquoise tissue paper inside the jars so its decorativly sticking out of the top all "fluffy" then white ribbon tied around the neck of the jars etc.
Could get black and white striped bags and using vistaprint get some sticky lables (when on the free listings just pay postage) and put a nice message on there with date/names and have that with teal on it.
Thats not too much hassel with decorating the bags, and everyone who takes some sweeties will have a nice little message and reminder of where the sweets came from!:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!
