Curlylou I love the disney stuff! Especially your name ideas. I'm going to label and ribbon the containers too. It'll help with the colour scheme and I plan to label v (veggie) sf (sugar free) so my veggie (me and dd) and diabetic (FIL2B, bruv and firend that I know of) have a chance of joing in ! Darn that gelatin!
Googled rainbow candy buffets madly but couldnt find a good pic, though the 2nd I posted before is pastel rainbow if you will. I think the pride idea is excellent you could put a rainbow on a 'help your self to our candy buffet' notice or poem by it to draw it together. Similarly teal sweets come up with loads of turquoise buffets which is a bit paler so I think the idea with about the bags, cloths and tags being themed (sorry - cant see who posted it while Im typing) was cool.
I'm doing a 'Trev's Tuckshop' notice - as its a surprise for him.0 -
We're hoping to have a colour theme for our candy buffet. Our colours are royal blue and cadbury's purple, and I'm getting a bit stuck. I didn't grow up in the UK, and am finding it hard picking things out! I have a 15% discount code for Happy Sweet Shop (I'll post it on the discount board if it's not there already), but can't always tell from pictures if the sweets will actually be the colour they appear online. Sigh.
So far I've found:
Fizzy Bubble Bottle (blue and pink cola bottle)
Liquorice and Blackcurrant Refreshers
Millions Bubblegum Flavour (not sure what these are like though?)
Millions Blackcurrant Flavour (same)
Porky Pigs (look purple online??)
maybe mini cadbury's bars?
foil wrapped chocs?
rock pieces?
We're getting married in November, so I can start buying at long last!
I don't think I'll use too much ribbon in my display, maybe only on containers that aren't full of sweets in our colours? I was thinking we could have some white sweets as well, OH loves white chocolate. Ribbon might tie it all together a bit better.
I think that lollies or big sweets look fab in candy buffets. Not sure I'll find anything in our colours though!Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

A lot of professional buffets will still bulk up their coloured sweets with a plain colour - white, or chocolate or something in and amongst the other main colour sweeties.
If you only stick to what looks pretty your buffet wont be as good as ones that allow for taste too!I love surprises!0 -
I was browsing around last night and on the 'Honeypie Boutique' website there is a link for a fifties wedding shop (its on amazon so I can't post a link) Anyway - it has a candy buffet page with cute little tongs, silver scoops, paper bags, nice jars etc.
Thought it might be worth a look!0 -

Thanks BarbC - i think the disney theme is how its going to go, we were thinking of going to costco's (mum has a member card) having a look at what they have and work out the cost comparaison to ordering online.
Must admit have had quick look on ebay too, and there are some sweet sellers on there that have quite good prices for some things.
Malamay - your colours theme sounds good, how about getting some of the tins of roses/quality street and use the blue and purple wrapped sweets from there?

Type candy buffet into Ebay and there is lots of lovely stuff on there.
:TWhen life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
we are doing our own and have decided not to get colour scheme sweets (even though we are cadburys purple) but everyones favourites,
and are bringing the theme into it with the organza on the table and the lables instead...
im too much of a bargain hunter (and sweetoholic) to limit myself to purple silver and white0
