think you should just get some sweets and see really- this is what i did with mine and then you can tell whether you think you have enough

I echo this, some sweets may be smaller than others so compact better in the vase etc,its better to have to many than not enough:)

  • I was quite productive yesterday and got two bowls in Dunelms for £2.99 each - they actually look very similar, if not identical to the ones in twink's picture which contain the eggs and milk bottles. Then when I went to put them in the cupboard I realised I hadn't actually set all my bowls / jars out yet to actually see what they look like!! So I spent a good half hour getting them all out and arranging them on the kitchen table and was impressed I had a lot more than I originally thought!! I shall try and post a photo of my mock-up on here at some point. So I was very pleased yesterday :)

I do still want to get some more, but I think I need more interesting shaped ones now so will keep an eye out in charity shops from now on. Overall I think I (and my mum!) have spent around £30 on glassware, but we've spread the cost by buying here and there and not all in one go.

A hint for anyone who is planning their own candy bar - Try and get a measurement of the table you will be using at your venue. That way, when you make your own mock-ups at home and trial where you want everything to go, you can use the measurements to know exactly how much space you have got. E.g. yesterday I used my dining table, but I had previously worked out the sweets table is longer but thinner, so I used a bit of string to mark the front of my venue's table to make sure I didn't go over that and took into account I would have more room lengthways to add more jars.

Yeah mine are from dunelm mill, I actually have 3 one with mint imperials in but it didn't fit on my dining room table, tied ribbon round my scoops yesterday, don't know whether to add a paper Rose to the ribbon or not.

Just had a thought, did anyone have any trouble with their venue by having a sweetie buffett?
In my contract it says I can only have food from the venue, which is fine in the most part as my wedding breakfast and evening buffet is all through them. I hope they're not funny with me about this, since I've collected lots of lovely jars and have my heart set on it
