Well I'm not quite on target yet but OH kindly donated some Wetherspoons vouchers that he'd had lying around for a few weeks and they are finishing on ebay tonight - got £6.50 for them so far. Just as well as nothing else I've put up anywhere has gone since I last posted.

Clearing out the airing cupboard yesterday & found a Barbie duvet set that the grandparents gave DD1 years ago; it's in decent condition so you never know I might get a couple of quid for it.

Also brother-in-law has promised a couple of old Nokia mobiles whenever he gets around to finding them (which means I could be waiting some time but it's still nice of him). Get out there & tap up your rellies, folks!

Farepak developed from the traditional Christmas club whereby customers contributed weekly sums in exchange for meat and grocery foodstuffs, which would be delivered before Christmas. The product range has been expanded to include frozen food, drink and confectionery hampers and also a range of gifts, jewellery, household items and shopping vouchers, which cover a broad spectrum of high street stores.

    The business operates two brands:

    Farepak Food and Gifts.

Home Farm Hampers, which operates under a joint venture agreement with Findel plc: Findel holds 60% and Farepak 40%. Farepak's interests are safeguarded through an agreement, which puts both parties on an equal basis as regards policy decisions. The business principally targets Findel’s customer database and mailing lists. Farepak has responsibility for day to day operations while Findel controls marketing.

Sales are made through agents who distribute catalogues to relatives, friends and work colleagues. The Farepak catalogue is the biggest in the industry offering the widest selection of products. It is produced in September for the following year’s Christmas season. Agents are then recruited through a marketing campaign, which commences in November. Our agents are typically women aged 35-50, looking to earn a little extra. Customers generally place their orders during the first three months of the calendar year and make their payments over a 45-week period commencing in January. They settle their accounts by the first week of November and goods are usually despatched in November and December after full payment has been made.

In July, product ranges for the following year's Christmas season are determined. At this time suppliers provide indicative prices and these are confirmed during the first six months of the following year. Hamper packing commences in August. The business also supplies hampers to third party customers such as Marks & Spencer, Provident and Littlewoods Retail.

Trust is a critical element of the Farepak system. We promise to help our customers to save up for a great Christmas, whether it’s a feast for the table or gifts round the tree. For over 30 years we have consistently delivered on our promise. Rigorous quality control, a no quibble guarantee and the support provided by our Service Centre are important elements in ensuring that this trust is not broken.

Farepak is based in Swindon. It employs 130 staff and up to 150 temporary packers during hamper production, which totals almost 400,000 units. The business also has a mechanised voucher handling operation, capable of processing over 9 million vouchers in a 4 week window with great precision

Hello people - here is a quick update. I took my £15 and wandered along to the local charity shops and managed to get six pairs of brand new evans and next shoes for less than a tenner. I'm going to put them straight on eBay and see what I get for them.

Well done to everyone so far!

  • poo......i am really sorry for you peeps about farepak....

and a few weeks just before they are due to send out the hampers ...vouchers...etc....

i bet they knew ages ago, but still took your money right up until the last.....the ******DS

there are going to be thousands and thousands of peeps in exactly the same position....and the poor people who are doing the agency thing, and selling and collecting the money every week..... i should imagine they are going to get linched. even though its nothing to do with them....

sorry for off topic post.... but i feel over the next few days...weeks... there are going to be a lot of desperate threads posted on mse....because of this......

hopefully with a company like that there is some sort of insurance or govening body that will at least pay something back to the customers even if its not the full amount.. and as someone said earlier....dont bank on it being this isde of christmas...

i really do feel for you....you can work something out..

    take care...

  • wohoo! just got £15 for a mystery shopper assignment, so that can be added to my £29 I have in paypal. Am hoping my ebay stuff will sell, only two things have bids on and someone retracted their bid on another :( Would have thought they'd have at least made the 99p start by now, as alot of them still have tags on and they're all good names. Hopefully they'll pick up in the last few hours, still a couple of days to go yet!
  • How is everyone managing the 'virtual' funds?

    I have earned £21.14. I have spent £10.93. The difference is £10.22.

Does that mean my sig should have £21.14 in it, or £10.22?
