  • the bloke came for his table yesterday afternoon, paid by paypal on Sunday (not sure why he didn't just bring the cash)

living room looks a little emptier now

got another cd yesterday which i am hoping makes at least five times what i paid for it.

will have in the charity shops later and hopefully bag a bargain (or five!)

Actually I can't remember the last time I picked up cash from the floor, probably when I was little, see a penny pick it up and all that jazz.

However I do occasionally see the odd pence on the floor and want to pick it up but didn't want people think I was sad (not that I think that although I don't think i've seen anyone pick up money before) but quite frankly I'm not bothered now, I'm on a money for nothing challenge. :D

    No No No,

It is a huge mistake to accept paypal on a collected item. A less than honest buyer can now start a chargeback for item not received and you will lose the claim and paypal will take back their money from you. It sounds odd I know, but it happens. It is one of the common scams to pay paypal and then collect just to work the system.

Items on collection should be only cash on collection, or bank transfer/cheque cleared beforehand and agreed between the two parties.

  • i always bend down to "do up my shoe-lace" right next to any money i see on the floor

or if no-one is around i will just pick it up!

have no lower or upper limit (although a tenner is the most i have found), am not adverse to checking phone-boxes too but they don't seem to ever have change left in them :(

  • Thats good, perhaps he only had money to pay with off of a credit card and thats why he paypal'd? Good thinking to get him to sign for it. the only time I've had something picked up I accepted cash - a whole pound mind you!

No good as far as paypal are concerned. You can get any amount of receipts signes, and any amount of feedback but you still don't satisfy their delivery rules here:

    https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_help-ext&ui_mode=answer&prior_transaction_id=0&action_code=4&answer_id=6894796&leafid=95937&_PPP=511&_PPC=4&_FI=Tracking_Deliveries

You need to search to get the full seller protection rules, but paypal only accept 'online' proof of delivery.

Obviously your buyer is almost certianly genuine but there are enough people getting ripped off by this scam that don't know how paypal work for me to continue to warn people against the dangers. We get this ocassionally on the ebay board and as soon as someone mentions they accept paypal on colelction everyone rushes to warn them against it.

It really is worth a good read of the paypal terms and conditions to save yourself getting caught out.

    Soo
