Hi Weezl and her team have been working on a christmas planner which is still cheap but provides the christmas essentials. The linkie is here http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/planner-christmasweek.html . This is still the test planner but it gives a good indication of what you can do on a budget.:D
Oh magic, thank you, off to look now xx0 -
Yup, I bought a tin of sweets yesterday, to put away for Christmas.
Oh, and then I ate half of them.
I do it every year, usually more than once. Poo.:(0 -

I normally stock up on cards in the January sales, but this year I didn't because I didn't see any I really loved, and also I decided to spend a bit of extra money and actually buy some in November like normal people so I could buy some really nice ones for a change
though hopefully in January I'll be back in my usual mode and will find something nice to save for next year.
I don't need to do a huge amount of food shopping as I live alone and normally spend Christmas at my mum's (just the two of us), but I will be making the cake in the next couple of weeks so it can start maturing in brandy  - I never remember to make it early enough, so this year I decided to put a date in my diary

I always used to buy my cards and wrapping paper in January, but for the last couple of years, I haven't found any less than half price in the sales, and lots of shops seem to do BOGOF on them before Christmas anyway, so I've sort of got out of the habit
Now I've found this wonderful forum, hopefully it'll be easier to find more sale bargains this year though
I've stocked up a bit on booze (buying discounted/damaged beer multi packs mainly
) and some fancy biscuits that were on offer, but that's it so far.
I'm going to try and step it up a gear now though0 -
CO-OP/SOMERFIELD ARE NOW OFFERING LARGE TINS OF QUALITY STREET,ROSES &CADBURY HEROES FOR ONLY £4.75 AS OPPOSED TO TESCO £5:j0

Sainsbury's have large Xmas boxes of biscuits for £1.99 this week. IIRC they will be £3.99 soon!
They had family biscuits 450g and Highland shortbread selection 450g; ideal for gifts or festive munchies
.
It's only a game

As I posted on another forum...on buying a tin from Tesco for £5 last weekend, my husband noticed the tin was not as full as he previously remembered... the contents in this years Quality Street tin is down 99 g on the same size of tin from last year (we still had an old tin on the top of a cupboard with all the ones no one likes in it)...so it may be a good price...and I know it's £4.75 in Co Op...but it's not the same value as last year.0

I have crossed my 1st two nephews off my list. Play.com had a sale on everything £5 so got a couple of bargains.
Food wise im hoping to add extra items t my shopping basket every week. I want t fill my freezer and cupboards with non perishable items.
When is the best time t get a turkey. Does any1 know the size I will need to feed a fam of 3 who also like turkey and pickled onion sandwiches for later.
This is my first xmas at home so abit hopeless I suppose0
