The Christmas Thread

Large joints of gammon are £3.99 per kg at Sainsbury's. I've put one in the freezer....well, it's a start.

I saw those yesterday too, but didn't get one coz there's no space in my freezer for it yet! Hoping they are still on offer when I go next week.
  • Oh poo, just returned from Sainsburys. Didn't realise the Gammon was on offer, otherwise I would have bought one. Instead I bought a tin of Quality Street for £5 and a box of After Eights for £1.79. These will go towards my Christmas stash.
  • My son is at his dad's for Christmas so we are celebrating at the in-laws and family on Boxing day... so my Husband and I will most likely have something like a Sunday dinner!! So my costs are very low this year!!

But I have to admit that I have done all my Christmas gifts for everyone but my son... I just have to bake cookies and cakes... Make 10 Calendars, which will be made during the October half term.

I've even got all my Christmas cards ready!

Everyone who knows how organised I am calls me sad!!!

I LOVE being organised!!! OCD :rotfl:

Stocking up for Xmas? nope! That happens Xmas eve when all the decent discounts are on! As far as gifts go I can't afford anything (debt= everything I buy is borrowed so in my mind, I can't afford anything) I wait 'till Xmas eve and normally get some bargains there. Luckily I don't have a big family and as friends go we agree to the no gift rule!

Can't imagine Xmas shopping now- its so early! I'd be bored by mid October by the sight of the stuff if I were buying it this early- and prices are only ever going to go one way as far as stock goes. Can't see the sense in getting stuff now (unless for novelty?) just seems like such a waste!
  • yes - I have my tins of Roses & Quality Street, plus my After Eights plus my cards and a few presents already!

Christmas cake ingredients all in the cupboard, bought 1/2 price joint beef from Sainsburys the other day which is now minced/sliced and in the freezer, similar with some whoops pork steaks that are now minced anf frozen ready to make a big pork/egg pie. 5 Kg of bargain apples are now cooked baged and in the freezer [as we like apple pie/crumble not all of these will last until Christmas]. Wrapping paper/cards were all bought last Jan in the sale [have even remembered where I have stored them]
  • Lol.....my kids have a very strong sense of smell when it comes to sweets, theres no way a tin of quality st would be here next week nevermind Xmas, if i were to stock up now!
Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D

Christmas is cancelled. Permanently. Thus zero expenditure.

  • Leaving it a bit late aren't you? Got about half the pressies, all the paper and cards etc in the January sales!! Food does wait a bit longer though. :)
