    you don't have to wash something the first time you wear it

    Will 2nd this - I used to be really bad for putting a clean set of clothes on after a bath (a must for me), wearing them a couple of hours until I went to bed and throwing them in the laundry basket .... and then getting another clean set out to walk the dog in the morning.

    They are now used again to walk the dog the next morning and evening so it's cut down the volume a fair bit.

    i'd recommend tesco direct, asda (online) and marks and spencers, all of them have been having clear outs lately and lots of kids schoolwear has been on offer. not sure if you'll find the red ones as they're probably all the stuff that's been (virtually) picked over but it's worth a shot

    the discount codes forum here had some codes for free delivery for marks and i think tesco recently, so worth a look

    Thanks I have tried tesco and direct, sainsburys and asda no luck with any his size

    1 tesco and yellow polo shirts!

  • Well, a fairly successful afternoon .... have been having a think about my curtains - I'm lucky in that I've been given loads over the years and have a "summer" and "winter" (thick linings and velvety type) set for all my windows except my bedroom ones:(. Although these are lined they're still pretty thin so hoping some fleeces attached will make a difference to those ones.

    Anyway, decided to pop I*kea after work (finish at lunchtime on a Wed) - work is about 1/3 way there so it doesn't feel like such a "waste" of fuel and the store's practically tagged onto the end of a large retail park where there's also Home Bar*gains, Pets @ Home etc so it's great (just wish it was a bit closer).

    Managed to get 2 of the £1.59 fleeces!:j And .... that's all I bought there - a huge improvement on the "old" me.

    Was going to tackle the job when I got home but decided it's a job that will hopefully keep me occupied for a few hours when I'm stuck in the house (and probably bored rigid) post op .... (drawing ever closer, less than a week to go :().

    Also got some extra bags T*ilda rice at HB (can't believe it's only 99p there), 4 more bags of cat litter (5L ones - all they had) and another month's supply of cat food (still on offer)!

    And .... I refrained from buying any more loo rolls ;) - have counted up and have 6 months supply (minimum) so think that'll do for now:o.

    And ..... with all these stories of OH's raiding freezers, and having to hide things in cupboards/move them so they're not "discovered", I'm chuckling away and thinking I'm quite lucky!:D

    you and me both! ahhh so nice only having to worry about my daughter who won't go near the freezer without my permission, i put sufficient scare into her about how if she broke it it would come out of her pocket money, that did the trick :rotfl:

    Oohh please wood burner people - ell me your tales - I have been SO disheartened by the ingoing saga of my back boiler etc etc. Is it absolutely necessary to put a liner in when I have a fully functioning chimney?? I very definitely remember us NOT having flue liners when we had 2 multifuels (Morso squirrel - loved that stove - and a Villager) in a Victorian single storey gate house. Why does the world seem to have gone liner mad???
    I know I wil have to knock out the original fireplace which is much bigger than the 16 inch open fire one I have now and then get someone to take the boiler out (this I KNOW could be dangerous if not done properly);
    Oh speak to me of cosy stoves and all the warmth they bring!!

    I've no idea how it works and am waiting on the quote BUT we do not need our chimney lining. We're in a mid 40's semi. Used to be a coal fire there many years ago but it currently has a gas fire in that we never use.
  • Chirpychick have you tried using an energy monitor to see what energy you are using on each appliance? They soon give you a good idea of where it all goes? E-on were giving them away free but I don't know if anyone else is.
