Thank you for all the kind welcomes. Just having a wee rest. We been busy bees. We have looked at carpets and man comes to measure on Thursday and then we get price! My DH has put up curtain track (after having helped our friend with her garden!)& sorted radiator things\! and I have been food shopping in aldi and put on the weekend wash! and one curtain liner!!

Shattered..and the curtain mum gave us for the hall is too short, so we will see if anyone has anymore!

But Im going to have a rest before doing the rest and some ironing!! My goodness it been busy..and today is very warm and sunny, so my husband is laughing at all this money we spending on winterproofing (dunelm curtain liners not cheap but im not handy with sewing and i wanted it to look neat too, and carpet was damaged last year by water, just before the snow fell!), but as I said we might not save this year but will after this and also we will be snug....

Also got my snow boots from sports direct only 35 not bad as i have small feet so need to get in advance of needing them!

So will listen in for further tips!

    Thanks

    Elaine
(although not really Elgar anymore, really Elpet!! now!

its the bottoms I find useless. why do they make them so wide that when you move around in bed they end up as shorts? I only have slim legs and teeny thin ankles so usually make my own pjs out of a long sleeved top and leggings.. tho I do wear the primarni ones cos theyre cheap and easy.

I find thermal underwear better for PJ's, the leggins are cosy and fitted and the older type long sleeved tops come well over the bum.
I have a very pretty, fluffy dressing gown to go over the top, stops me looking like Granny Clampett if anyone civilised drops in.

Just popping in to say that I've seen 3 litre slow cookers and 1 litre rice cookers in Mr A for £9. Might be useful for someone....or make an ideal Christmas present :D
As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'

And you have a problem! When I wake up, only one leg has rolled up, that is not a pleasant sight in the morning, keep wondering if I am secretly a mason!:D

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:how odd. years ago I used to have a couple of all in one combination type thingies for bed and I always used to think of Jed Clampett:p

BTW i dont recommend them. They were like a babygro without feet Kept you warm but when you went to the loo as a laydee you had to practically disrobe and shiver:eek:

thanks for the heads up Carolyntia - I wondered about a rice cooker - are they any good does anyone know? There is just me to cook for. I had mastered nice fluffy rice on my last ceramic hob but now I have a gas hob and nothing I cook is right it is so much faster and seems hotter that everyting boils over or burns - I have to clean the hob all the time and its getting to me:rotfl:
Toonie sorry to hear about your split - maybe you should get a wee notebook and write down a lot of the tips and use it as a guide when you are looking for somewhere to stay - you will then be aware of the winterproofing you might need to do and what the expensive things would be? I hope your search for a new home doesnt take too long and decluttering now is the best way to go - the very best for the next part of your life.

I like the idea of thermals for pjs but dont think I would look tidy enough for my hospital stays - I tend to go in multi coloured bottoms with assorted t-shirts but have a giggle to myself at the obviously new nighties etc that some people have - i wish i could do that but buying new every 6 weeks would be toooooooooooo costly:rotfl:

must go do some ebay to fund more winter stuff

    toots x
    Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

Tootie, sorry to hear about your split :( take care of yourself xxx

We have been to the local maternity hospital for a tour this afternoon and took the opportunity to go to aldi for some shopping as they don't have a store near us. I was really impressed as we got a huge shop for just £28 and plus of it was things that are going into our winter storecupboards such as tinned new potatoes (20p), kidney beans (16p) and tonnes fruit for cheap but tasty puddings. Just need to have a re-jig of our kitchen cupboards to fit it all in!!!

I prefer base layers to thermals as they are high wicking, I have three sets I sleep in and they keep their shape nicely so the leg cuffs stay around my ankles.

Has anymade a channel type (like jml sell) draft excluder?
