    Hiya
I know I have probably missed something but what is the dishwasher salt for?
    X

tesco have the big bags of dishwasher salt for 35p reduced to clear so all the wise people here have been stocking up for using on the icy paths - but after reading suki1964's warning may just use it on the "chukkiesi" in the drive when they are hard packed and will go lightly on the slabs.

    thanks for the warning suki

Yes to butter, cream can also be frozen, but needs to be frozen as whipped cream.

you don't have to freeze cream whipped if you don't plan to use it for pouring over fruit etc, if you're adding it to ice cream recipes or soups, sauces etc then freezing it straight out of the carton works fine. you may need to whisk it once thawed to recombine the fat, i do this all the time!

I did manage to get the baked beans tho', heaven knows what I'm going to do with them all - so will have to have a hunt for some things to do with them ... wonder if they'd go with rice?

baked beans with a bit of blue cheese melted in served over spaghetti noodles is surprisingly nice, or use ramen/super noodles (no seasoning packet required)

we make cheesy been burritos all the time, slop in some beans, put some cheese on top, maybe some greek yogurt as a sour cream replacement, i like to add cumin to mine or tabasco sauce etc then fold into burrito shape and nuke for 1-2 minutes til the tortillas are soft

can also mix in shreds of pork, beef or chicken and do the bean burritos that way too

you can use them as a replacement for beans in soups, add to spag bog mix etc etc

where did you get the bubble wrap? i thought i might check ebay but if i can get it cheaply elsewhere i want to know :p

i put the bubbles facing the window, this traps the air between the spaces in the plastic and the glass... and all you need to hold it in place is a swipe of damp sponge on the glass then press gently and voila, done!

Confuzzled I got it on ebay, the small bubble sort, which cost me £5.45 inc postage, for 20 meters x 750mm. They do various sizes, none of them was particularly expensive. It was quite comical when it arrived, a large roll of bubblewrap with my address on it. Postie wondered what tiny, precious thing it was hiding!

Never thought of putting it directly onto the window, I've selotaped it to the window frame to make a sort of triple glazing (which they have in many homes in Canada). I wonder which way works best - anybody know?

I hit a couple of stores on the way home from work. I picked up 2 more packages of TP (loo rolls)-- thats 12 more to the stash. About 4 kg sugar and 2 bottles of Ajax cleanser-- all on sale (offer). Another store had a good price on beef chuck roast-- bought 4 packages each around 1 kg for the freezer and another 2 packets of brownie mix for the pantry. Freezer and pantry are both bursting at the seams and extra shelving in basement is about to buckle with the weight of all the canned (tinned) goods. OH just rolls his eyes when he sees me come in the door with all my shopping!

Not got very far with stocking up as everything is so expensive!! there is a chill in the house this morning, need to seal up this rediculous hole thing we have in our cupboard in our livingroom - a cat could fit through it, and i don't know why it's there, but it lets the cold it a huge amount, so thats going.

Trying to refrain from putting the heating on untill october at the earliest...

    Hi

If anyone has a Wyevale Garden Centre near them and are after a cheapish fleece top they are selling Regatta ones for £5 - I've bought one, they had them in cream, hot pink!! baby blue and navy. The mens were the same price. I tried my normal size and it fitted fine but I bought 1 for DH and his is going back to be changed for a larger size, I've worn mine tonight and its toasty warm

    Helen
